In 2007 I managed to read 97, I had hoped to hit 100 but didn't make it, but I managed to read 20 more than in 2006 so was happy with that. I am hoping I will hit 100 in 2008.

Just curious. To the Group: What do you 'count' as reading a book? Do you have to finish it? Does it have to be a certain number of pages?

I have an anal system myself...lol

I have to finish the book 100%, the book has to be over 140 pages to count as a book. Other than that it is a short story for my purposes (I also track short stories or articles I have read).

I also go by month...and the way I count a book for a month is if I finish it within the month (obviously) or if I am 3/4 of the way through and then finish it within the first 3 days of the next month.

lol...told you I was anal about it.

hmmm, I don't think I have any books that are under 140 pages. If I did, I would probably count it though. I just counted for fun I guess. It was just a goal of mine. I don't really keep track anymore except maybe on shelfari. Now that my last semester of college is starting up I have a feeling my numbers are going to go down until May. :)

wow, I have no idea how many I read in a year...I'm currently reading about 2 books a week, so if that's average, then it's over 100 books a year. I should start keeping track...that would be interesting :D

I have averaged for many years 2-3 books a week. Some time is even more - I follow about 40 authors - but have found new authors that are worthy and have expanded my list - such as Rebecca Lerwill, Dennis Batchelder, Grant Mobielle, Lila Pinord, Gary V. Tenuta, Karen Vanderlaan, Lorna Rainey, Louis Aveni, Fran Orenstein, Maud Muller, Tracy B. Evans, Norm Applegate, Andrew Shipley to name just a few - my reading list has exploded!!

My goal this year is to read either 50 books or 20,000 pages (whichever is lesser).

I have no idea how many books I read last year.

I am inspired to find out though.... I'm now keeping a list, and I will check back in December to let you know!

If I remember correctly (my list is at home), I read 44 in 2007. Not really setting a goal for 2008 on total books, but I'm trying a more simple goal this month: for February I want to read more books than I buy. So far I've finished one and bought one, but I have this Barnes & Noble coupon to use...

I have no idea. I sometimes wish that I had bought and kept every book that I read. It would be cool to see all the books that I've read.

Yeah I dont have any idea either, but remembering them is what the various 'books' applications on facebook are for :)

That is what I am trying to do, I have a list of all the books that I have read and don't own. One day I want to have a library in my house with all of my books.

more, I wish. But school and homework always have to come first. It's really annoying at times. Generally during the summer I read a lot, though. :D
