Book Review: City of Thieves
I wouldn’t specify City of Thieves to a certain age group. It is a great read for all ages. It is a fast reading adventure story that brings two young men from Russia together. It takes place in Russia during the siege of Leningrad during World War II. The boys are seen as “criminals” in the Russians eyes, therefore, they are sent on a near impossible quest to find a dozen eggs for a Colonels daughter. Throughout their grueling journey, they grow closer with one another and their bickering dialogue makes the book go by extremely fast. It is hard to put this book down once started. This novel contains humor and moments where you literally on the edge of your seat wondering “how are they going to get out of this one?” I would recommend this book to all who enjoy a good laugh with a twist of nervousness. The adventurous crowd will eat this book up!

Book Review
David Benioff’s City of Thieves is a gut wrenching, wind twisting novel that tells the tale of a young Russian teenager (Lev) and his struggles during World War II. Growing up and living in Leningrad, Lev tells a tale of great sorrow and ultimate success. As the novel goes on, the reader is emotionally impacted by his/her ability to develop a relationship with Lev and through his hardships and struggles. Whether it’s talking about women, shooting German soldiers or finding a dozen eggs, the attachment between Lev and the reader grows stronger and stronger with the turn of each page. Along with emotional impact, the reader also seems to get lost within the book. With each heart pounding experience, the book gets harder and harder for the reader to put down. This book is for anyone who loves action packed and thrilling adventure churned with humor and excitement. Those who love these books will never put it down.
