One month and counting

Post by Czarmaine AM »

Note: Funny how simple musings can turn into a life changing idea. I've been inactive for the past month and here's the reason why.
Missing everyone! I have a lot of catching up to do.

---

After I flipped the coin
I knew I reached a turning point
One-way ticket can be overwhelming
But also, pretty exciting

I then flew a hundred miles
While faking all my smiles
Wondering and wandering
New country, new beginning

Fleeting moment of success
Got me feeling undressed
Liberty was in the palm of my hands
I felt like surrounded by my favorite bands

Yet inevitably, the hype faded
2 weeks is all that it took for me to feel jaded
I found myself longing for familiarity
I want to punch this insane thing called reality

Fear crept its way through
Anxiety haunted me too
"Is this worth it?" I asked
What-if this, what-if that
Crazy questions I never thought I'd ask

However, there's nothing to do now but to conquer
And let myself be the master
They may say there's no place like home
I don't care, I brought my throne
"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."
(The Old Astronomer to His Pupil by Sarah Williams)

It's a good poem. I especially love the last two lines and your optimism towards the end. I also liked your line about punching reality; it made me smile. Your poem is very clear with what you are doing now and how you've been struggling, but are willing to overcome it all. Best of luck in your new place!

You're too sweet! Thanks for the kind words, FireFairy, it means a lot to me.
