Your review makes the book irresistible to me. I have purchased a copy and can't wait to expand my knowledge of the Panama Canal.

The Expansion sounds like a thrilling read, although I'm hesitant if there's an abrupt cliffhanger ending. Still, it certainly seems worth the read. Thank you for the helpful review.

The sample I read was more than amazing and captured my interest. I had every intention on purchasing the book until I read your review. The review is fabulous and I was hooked, until I read that the conclusion is a cliffhanger. That ruined it for me. Why bother writing a book if you're not going to finish it! Even if there is a sequel, tie up the loose ends! It is a great shame, because what I read was fabulous. Thank you for such a good review, it prevented me from spending money I didn't have.

Many thanks for a review covering different aspects of the story. Cliffhangers aren't great though :(

This is an interesting and intriguing book easily falling under the mystery and thriller genres. We see the fierce cut throat competition in the corporate world to get business tenders, the sabotage and use of secret agencies in quest of power to control the canal . We also learn of human being's will power to achieve results, in this case finding ways of killing disease causing mosquitoes till full construction of Panama Canal in 1914 is achieved. The book also shows sacrifices people make for their lifetime dreams like Max Burns leaving his fiancee and future father-in-law. Also I don't like what directors of Cisco co. Paco Roco and son Godfredo do by leaving all the work to Max Burns yet they have the budget and all construction details. It's good that Max when pushed to his limits and misses his old London life, meets beautiful Karis Deen. Also notable is the deception by the characters who are not what they seem to be. I like the phrase "there are twists at every corner and when you think you know the name of the game, another twist of the game ensues". Kudos for this great review. It's good for 4 out of 4 stars rating even after encountering the cliffhangar that left a bitter taste after such a good ride.

The intrigue and corporate sabotage sounds interesting but too bad about the cliffhanger ending. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review. I love when an author can take the characters and scenery and describe them so well that you imagine being there and think you know them so well. Even though there was a cliffhanger, I am glad you were left wanting more and didn't lessen the review due to that.

Compelling review. Congrats, Lennycat. But I am generally not drawn to this type of storyline. Although it sounds interedting, I will really be surprised if l am able to get through a quarter of this book.

Plenty of things about this book sound like fun, like the engineering and the exotic setting, but then the reviewer lets us know that the ending is somewhat of a cliffhanger. I don't like cliffhangers. :( Thanks for the warning.
