To be honest, I was kinda confused reading the review and learning that I wasn't the only one was actually helpful. Then again, the themes of the book aren't exactly my forte, so I may pass on this one, but that doesn't reduce the greatness of your job! Well done.

This book sounds REALLY confusing to me. It sounds like rantings mixed with politics and fantasies about love or something. I had added it to my "want to read" list but will be moving it to my "not interested" list as soon as I publish this post. I was curious about the main characters being writers, but there is too much other content that I do not relate with. Also, the author's false advertisement of his book being a novel when it is not, in order to make more sales, makes this one a definite no for me. I feel I cannot trust what he says if he is not being honest about what his book is.

Mois Benarroch never cease to amuse me. I have read one of his books and will certainly read this one too. He has a creative way of shedding a light in the reality of what immigrants feel in a foreign land. His works are always relatable. Thanks for the excellent review!

Seems like an interesting story as per your good written review. Would add this in my "Want to Read" bookshelves as I currently reading other books.

The idea of feeling displaced or alienated in a foreign culture is something that pertains to more and more people today, given the ease of travel and the global community that now exists. Richness and depth can be discovered, but homesickness is also a reality. Living in a foreign country widens the worldview such that one no longer feels they entirely fit into either culture, but are caught somewhere in the middle. Thanks for this well-written review.

Even though I can identify with immigrants (my parents are immigrants, and I have faced a lot of issues in my day to day life with people who judged based on appearances and such), I doubt this would be a good book for me. Thanks for the review though!

Not my type of novel. And i have a thing about reading books that seem uni-perspective. Though i do like the idea of cultural and social relations. Nice review nonetheless.

Thank you for the review. While this particular book is not for me, the idea behind it is interesting.

This is such a wonderful book that fuels thinking about cultural differences, prejudices, racism and assimilation. These are some the challenges we face today in our society. Thank you very much for this great review.

I think this review does quite a justice to this amazingly unique book. Reading this book has refreshed my memories back as a Psychology student when I read Carl Jung's theory of collective consciousness, where the feminine inner persona in the unconscious of a man, called Anima. I think the narrator's Raquel is that same archetype of his unconscious inner mind whom he admires.
This is a really very interesting read :techie-studyingbrown:

That is a lovely review. And the brief summary about the book is very interesting. Am definitely going to read it.
