What happens if you combine the mastery of a great writer, demons and supernatural action in one thriller? Reading Raven’s Peak will provide the answer.

This book caught me off-guard as I was never a huge fan of supernatural stories but with Raven’s Peak, I happened to find an amazing book that went beyond what I’d expected. Descriptions are so astounding and vivid that you feel as if you are watching events unfold in a movie. Every time there is an encounter with a demon, I couldn’t but feel chills down my spine and an ever-growing eagerness for knowing what was going to happen next. Such moments were exquisitely described and words were fit for the moment.

Raven’s Peak can be summarised as a dark fantasy book in which we find demons roaming the earth, a Council that controls Hunters who are responsible for exterminating demons and a story that intertwines with the situations that take place within the first book of this series: Abigail is our heroine who goes through a series of events, from having been possessed by a demon herself back in time, to presently being a hunter who seeks to exterminate demons in order to regain the Council’s respect - although she has to work on her own and not following the Council’s orders for some time. Then it is Haatim, who has lost his sister and is in a dark place regarding his family. Together, they are immersed in a series of obscure events.

Morality and faith are visible throughout the book. Chapters are effortlessly linked. Honestly, this was the first time a book with these characteristics kept me intrigued, and interested. I felt every bit of it and my heart was pounding with fear or excitement whenever the moment called for it. This book is tantalizing and scenes are images painted in front of your eyes for each moment when incredible things happen.

I rate Raven’s Peak - World on Fire, Book I, 4 out of 4 stars in spite of a very few typos. It is a solid story that lovers of the supernatural and fantasy thriller will surely love. And as this is the first of a series of 3 books, I’m sure readers won’t hesitate to read them all!
