Escape by Belle Ami is a sensational Romantic thriller with a total of 166 pages.
The story revolves majorly around Layla Wallace and Cyrus Hassani. Layla is a Jewish Art student at Harvard University whose life took an unexpected turn when she was kidnapped alongside her boyfriend during their visit to his multi-millionaire parents. Meanwhile, Cyrus is an Israeli Mole who is a high-ranking Iranian intelligence agent. He believes that he has no heart for love and family until his immediate superior officer put him in charge of keeping Layla safe. Despite all his efforts to keep her at an arm's length, he realised that he couldn't win the battle against his desires. Meanwhile, Layla's father, on learning of his only daughter's kidnap by the Iranians, called for help from his former Harvard roommate, who incidentally is the Israeli Prime Minister. Bearing in mind that Iran and Israel are sworn enemies, the only way for Layla to ESCAPE from Iran is for Israel to blow the cover of their undercover agent.
The book takes you on a mind blowing journey like no other. The author was able to bring to life the characters and made them feel real. He did a splendid job of keeping the readers attention for most part of the book . Belle Ami made me feel like I was in the book witnessing the whole story as it unfolds, like reading in 3D... Lol. It also succeeded in pumping a good measure of adrenaline through my system for the duration of the read. The author executed the characters well. Every character played their parts adequately. I especially enjoyed the transition of Cyrus from a very stoic and professional man to a lover man who seemingly could not survive without the love of his woman. I was well entertained by the author.
I have a few misgivings about the Escape though. The story did not properly account for Layla's boyfriend who was the reason for her kidnap initially, he just went missing after he was supposedly released from Iran, I don't think that even parental pressure would be strong enough to make him forget about her in the face of that very bad situation. I also found the latter part of Escape somewhat boring and incomplete, I mean compared to the tempo with which I was reading from.
I am therefore rating Escape by Belle Ami 3 out of 4 stars due to a couple of reasons among which is the way the story concluded and the incompleteness of one of the characters.
Everyone would love this story. The author picked a good theme to write about. Everyone feels good when strong people show weaknesses and in this case, the weakness is a beautiful girl. This book will be loved mostly by optimistic people and those who believe in romance and a happy ending. It is very good for relaxation and Escape from stress.

I don't think I am chauvinist. Consider this... a romance novel written by a female author will always describe the "thick of things" from a female perspective, do you get the gist?Ayosinmi wrote:Thanks Julius. Well, I like the genre. You are a chauvinist. Book chauvinist. Lol. Thanks for stopping by dear. Hope you're good. It's well tempered and I think it's a function of the gender of the author, it's good like that for me. ?
In other words, the author will be describing male features...you see? well cut abs, hairy chin...
