This has to be something that happens to everyone but once am reading a book, I am in that location and in that setting. I feel my presence there because I absolve every description and presentation of the location by the author. I have basically travelled all er the world as a result of books I've read. It also really helps my geography a lot, I know where countries are in what continent and a lot about places i have never been to.

I obviously like to read books about places I have never been to before. I mean, in my lifetime it is not possible that I travel even a tenth of the world so it is really amazing to read about other places such that I can talk about when others are talking too. It's actually a very good way of learning.

"Books take me to places I've never been before." And it helps too. Because you get to know about things, you wouldn't otherwise. And most of the times they shatter illusions. Like, I had a preconceived mindset about what kind of place Afghanistan was. But after I read Khaled Hosseini's novels, my views changed on a large scale. And this is what I love most about books.

Whenever books describe places I've never been before I feel teleported to that place and I can see it, feel it, and even smell it when the author gets that descriptive. One of my favorite books that describes different places I've never been would probably be Inkheart.
I agree! Inkheart is a great book. I think the whole premise behind reading a book is to go where you haven't gone before. Sometimes authors describe places you can go, but my favorite authors describe places you can't necessarily go--unless you go in your imagination. My favorite fantasy place is the world of Shannara. Terry Brooks does a great job at world-building. 8)

Under some circumstances I like to move for business trips. I would like to read the books on travelling while I travel for some places.
There is a reason for that I like to relax on the journey with my reading taste being similar to my situation. That is rally odd for some other guy. I on the other hand tend to be cool with the book in hand related to tour. :cry2: :!2: :) :D [amazon=][/amazon]

This one is an "it depends" kind of thing for me. In general I love being able to take in the scenery that's presented in a novel, and I do enjoy reading about places that I've never been to before, but my mind is more creatively wired and therefore I tend to enjoy reading about fictional worlds that I'll never be able to experience in any other way a bit more. I don't think I've come across a novel yet that has really inspired me to want to visit a real world place as of yet. I find enjoyment in reading about the characters and their experiences wherever they go though, so whether a fictional or real world place, I'll still immensely enjoy the story if it's beautifully told.

Yes I like reading about places that I have been before. The concur with the saying that, the world is like a book, and therefore if you sit at one place, you open just a page.

I know that this seems weird but I want to read every chapter in a book in different places.

I read a lot so I tend to forget the details in a book if I read it in one-sitting. Being in a new and different place makes reading more fun and I got to recall more vividly on what I have read regardless of the time.

I am very adventurous and will love reading books about places I have never visited. This I believe will give me a feel of the place and would think of visiting places of interests.

Yes I love this. I'm a huge fan of Karin slaughter. Her books are based in Georgia or in the city of Atlanta where I am from. This makes me feel like I'm back home walking the streets.

Yes i do like reading books about places I've never been. I like the adventure in exploring new horizons and reading about possible new adventures. I also like reading the author's take or his or her character's take on new places. Differences in opinion help me to tentatively explore new places with wider perspective. Like what they did in My trip to Adele.
Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be...

Human imagination is a powerful gift. One is able to think or imagine themselves in a place they have never been before just by reading a book about the place. I am able to travel anywhere in the world just by reading books.
