This is a review on Lincoln Cole’s book titled Ravens Peak: World on Fire, book 1.
It is a work of fiction generally based on the supernatural. The background of this book is about a man tormented by his demons and guilt on account of his actions and decisions which he now has to live with; ‘‘broken, pathetic and alone as he paid for his mistakes’’. When confronted with an opportunity to redeem himself, will he make an effort and do whatever it takes or let himself be dragged down and defeated by his demons...

On top of that is a woman trying to remember the details of what had happened to her while being possessed by a demon. for some reason she doesn't seem to be able to recall exactly what happened and of what consequence the answers are to the disappearance of a loved one. Her quest takes an interesting turn when she crossed path with Haatim who is entirely from a different world and is completely oblivious to the paranormal realities around him.

Not only is this book interesting, it is edge of the seat intriguing. Each and every page is filled with suspense such that the reader is literally gripped with apprehension and can’t wait to read what happens next. I liked the scene on page 185 where amidst all the commotion and violence going on in Raven’s Peak, there was a couple copulating right in the middle of the road amidst all the chaos, I think it adds some humour to that chapter in the book. It was remarkable what the author did in pages 196-7. It is generally believed, or I had thought exorcism chants/prayers are only said in Latin based on the books and movies I had read and watched. It was a surprise that the demons understand or are affected by prayers of exorcism said in not only Latin but Hebrew and mandarin as well.

Honestly, there was nothing I didn’t like about the book, I enjoyed reading every word. But, I would have liked it much more if there was some romance between the main characters in the book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was well edited and very captivating. For those who love books on the supernatural, this book is very ideal as it has it all. from the fantastic background story, to the suspense, actions(shooting, stabbing, slaying demons...), the unrelenting demons and the equally relentless hunters with the drama, war and every other thing that you find where demons and hunters are involved, and then some.
