Haven’t you ever wondered how zombies came about in the first place; how their popularity rose over the years to the level they have reached? Well, if you want to know, then The Ultimate Guide To Zombies by Dave Robertson is the book for you. All the movies, TV series, books, and music dedicated to zombies make you question their existence; and I have to say this book does a good job of answering those questions.

This book tells you everything you need to know about zombies; from how and when they first appeared to how they have grown and evolved over the years. This book distinguishes between the voodoo zombies of Haiti (that in my opinion started it all), to the Romero zombies, rage infected zombies, and brain-craving zombies. I didn’t think there were different types of zombies and this was really an eye opener. The book also teaches how to kill all the different zombies and which weapons are the most effective.

The guide also has recommendations on good zombie movies, video games and TV series; which I found quite useful. There is also a recipe for a drink known as the Zombie; really interesting stuff. The author did a lot of research for this book and it shows. I enjoyed the book because it was very informative. I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard zombie fan but I kind of get what people love so much about them.

I found the history of the zombies quite fascinating. Dave Robertson writes his book in a progressive way showing how the zombies began; and the different causes of zombiism people have brought up in movies and other productions. The author wrote his book with a sense of humor that made me chuckle at some points in the book.

I liked how the author included links to other great zombie related materials and the number of sources used in the book; it just shows how much research went into it. The chapters on the physiology and how to kill zombies were very thorough and specific. I enjoyed the technical terms used; it just made it feel more interesting. I appreciated that the author didn’t stray from the purpose of his book, it was very detailed and right on point.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I highly recommend it to fans of the supernatural genre or just someone with avid curiosity; you’ll be amazed by what you might learn from this book. Although the book is very comprehensive, I feel that a true fan of zombies would find it vague because I didn’t get that “wow” moment when reading it.
