Some authors could populate their book narration with characters from shady to outright murderous people. Unless the reader of the story expects to be splashed with blood and gore coming right out of the pages, then we'll have to make do with implications of bad or negative behavior of these characters. There are virtues of not being explicit about a murder scene for example, or a high level conspiracy which the author might want to impress on the reader with less gut and gore. As they say, what's more devastating can be that which isn't clearly described, not the one being graphically portrayed.

Nice review. I read the book. I agree. The book started off strong and ended weak. It was enjoyable though. So was your review. Good job.

This review is so genuine, I really like it! :tiphat:
I like that you rate 'Cup of Evil' ok purely on the basis of having been hyped. It renders a genuinely awesome book anti-climatic, reading through things that don't live up to all the hype. I also relate with the endless inconsequential characters that disappear before the next chapter

A great review. A pity the book doesn't live up to its title. I thought it would be something to look into due to the nice introduction. Unfortunately, you couldn't even catch up with all of the characters. I'll have to pass up on this one.

You did a great job on this review and presented it very fairly. I enjoyed how you summarized the plot. But I read to relax. It sounds like this book would really stress me out trying to keep track of the characters.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

I gave the book a shot. Longer than I planned to because there are definitely good moments. But I gave up shortly after the "reveal." It's got its moments, but not enough for me to finish.

Awesome review! I like to be on the edge reading a book and if I can guess the plot half way through the book I know I will get bored.

I like your review. Detailed and analytical. But I don't think I would be interested in reading the book.

First, this was a really amazing review. Your analytical abilities are very well put together. I'm going to add this book to my 'want to read' list as I am always in the mood for a lite mystery on vacation!
