Burning Bright by Tracy Chevalier

I loved this novel for the characters and the historic background. The story is about the coming-of-age of two teens is set in 18th century London, at the time of the French Revolution. The author did very thorough and extensive resarches and managed to evoke a very vivid image of the city and its inhabitants, and of what their life was like. This is certainly one of those books I will never forget. And, who knows, maybe it will become a movie as well.

I'm a HUGE Chevalier fan and I think Burning Bright is quite possibly going to steal the first place position away from Falling Angels!

I'm a sucker for 15th-19th century London. I never get sick of reading about the way life was for people then. Actually, if I could time travel I would most certainly go right back there just to catch a glimpse of a real live pick pocket!

I fell in love with the characters in this story and ended up feeling like I really knew them. They were quirky and unique and endearing all at once!

Just joined the forum this morning and this is one of the first threads I have read. I just picked up a copy of Girl With a Pearl Earring by Chevalier in connection with my new found discovery of Vermeer's paintings and am looking forward to starting it this weekend.
