This book just didn't tick any boxes for me. It lacked almost everything. It is a weak story and perhaps better suited for a younger readership. I couldn't believe in any of the characters as their relationships with each other just didn't work. I rated this book 2 out of 4 because the author was clearly knowledgeable about the region he was writing about. :techie-studyinggray:

I rate Strong Heart 4 out of 4 stars.I found it intriguing, as I could not always guess what was going to happen next, especially when Sarah/Strong Heart was on her journey. My favorite part was watching the relationships develop, especially between Sarah and Tom. I did not like the abrupt ending. I would recommend this story to others, especially those that enjoy exploring the "unknown."
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

Myra believes the legends she grew up with are true because she believes they come from fact. Sergei, on the other hand, would prefer to wait on scientific evidence. From their perspectives, they were both right. However, what I didn't like about the book was how Sergei and Myra switched between belief and disbelief.
In the beginning, Myra believes Sarah about seeing the bear. And then she doesn't believe Sarah's story. Sergei meanwhile says he doesn't believe anything without scientific evidence and then believes Sarah's story and even defends it. I found this switch a little confusing.
Did anyone else feel the same way? Or did I miss some explanation in the book?
I think I missed the part about Myra disbelieving Sarah after believing her. But in terms of the switching viewpoints, that is part of what I liked about the book - that the characters were strong but thoughtful, and after thinking over some things were able to see that there might be a different point of view. Maybe not so much belief as trust. I think that speaks to all of us today, especially in the US, where people don't seem to want to see any other viewpoint but their own.
I meant Myra believing Sarah about having seen the bear and then not believing her story later. I do agree with you about people with different viewpoint being able to express and communicate to each other, and that is what I really liked about Sergei and Myra's interactions.

I gave the book a 3 because I felt as though the tale was too long for me. It could have been shortened a bit and left out some details.

I rate it 3 out of 4 stars and recommend it for mature YA and up, especially those who enjoy a quick thriller.

My rating of 4 out 4 for this book shows how much I liked the treatment it gave to teenage problems, family values, and Amerindian heritage. I appreciate the style and the pace as well as the stimulating thoughts.

Honestly, it was not that easy to read, especially at the beginning. Sarah's story when she went missing is what added a spark to it. Overall, I rated it 3 stars but would not necessarily highly recommend it.

I did find it a little difficult to be interested in the beginning of the book. However, somewhere in the middle of her story as Strong Heart, I became quite absorbed.

This book shown wild and magical aspects of life and nature. Interesting after some time. The plot was slow in the beginning but later it got more exciting. Well written story with great experiences which we can really feel coming alive. It could have used some better words and some more editing. I rate it 7/10.

I reviewed the audiobook version of Strong Heart, and although I didn't love the narrator, I really enjoyed the story. I thought the author did a great job capturing the essence of native mysticism and storytelling. Also, I really liked the mystery surrounding Sarah. I felt this was a great representation of themes like adolescence and wanting to be believed and understood.

Like many found little blunders I also found some aspects disagreeable, I rated it 3/4 stars.

Initial stages are a little boring. Suggest you to continue and you'll not regret.
