What is the one thing that you missed in this book?
If the author had added that element, it could have improved your impression over this book further.. Did you get that feeling? Let me know.

I second that. Admittedly, I am still working my way through the book, but there are so many scenes I feel doesn't give the author's writing skills the credit it probably deserves. While the overall story of the novel is good (so far), there is no sense of urgency, no biting your fingernails and turning to the next page, even in scenes where I know there should be.gali wrote:I felt the element of tension was missing. There was some action, but not enough of it to keep the story going. The book could do with another round of editing.

You know, I couldn't really pinpoint it before, but you're right. There's no sense of urgency, even when you'd expect there to be.erjonas wrote:I second that. I agree. There wasn't enough suspense or surprises. It felt more like an educational book on legends and culture.gali wrote:I felt the element of tension was missing. There was some action, but not enough of it to keep the story going. The book could do with another round of editing.

I hadn't thought of that before but I'd have to agree. One example: there should have been more tension between Tom and his ex-wife when she dropped him off at his door. We saw some of that later but it would have made sense to see it early on.gali wrote:I felt the element of tension was missing. There was some action, but not enough of it to keep the story going. I agree about the adult characters. We were given a little bit of background on Tom, but it wasn't obvious to me either, how everyone was connected.Mindi wrote:I didn't feel like the adult characters were developed enough. It was a bit confusing figuring out how they were all connected and what all of their backgrounds were. To me, Sarah was the only interesting character.

I thought I was the only one who initially became confused over who was who in regards to Tom and William. I kept having to reread an earlier section until it finally clicked!mratdegraff91 wrote:I agree with several of you regarding the tension in the story. If I hadn't been interested in reading the rest of Sarah's vision I probably would have put the book down. I also feel that character depth would have been a plus too. I couldn't figure out for a short period if Tom or William was Sarah's grandpa and had to look back to see. It didn't click until later in the story though and then I was confused about Myra's relation for a bit. More depth on these characters would have made it less confusing initially.

I felt that as well.BoyLazy wrote:The writing is unnatural for lack of a enhanced expression. I found it a little difficult to follow the story.
