This review has me intrigued. Despite it belonging to a genre I would not normally pick.

As per my comprehension, the book deals with destructive human actions and interactions and their impact on humans and humanity. It is a complex subject,no doubt. Apparently, the author has formulated a theory regarding the same based on research, his own experience etc.This theory not only describes the various ways in which inhuman destruction impacts humanity (different spaces) but also finds a common thread linking many destructive actions. An attempt is made to answer the what and why of humans destroying humans in order to find a clue as to how to prevent it in future.

Various aspects of the subject have been explored and stated in an organised and uncluttered manner. Some examples have deliberately been repeated to highlight various points. I like the way the reviewer warns anyone who is a novice in the genre of sociology and philosophy reading.

My intrigue is reinforced by the description of the book as "scholarly, innovative" and yet "understandable". I am tempted to explore how someone has managed to bring together these seemingly mutually exclusive qualities to a book. And then reviewer has rated it a full 4 stars. Yes I will read this book but on a day my intellectual juices are running thick and fast and I know I will be undisturbed for a good while.

What a well written review. It has got me hooked to a book the likes of which I may not have bothered about yet.

Very interesting topic, and I am intrigued to see how Katz connects these social spaces to his experiences surviving through the Holocaust, one of man's worst atrocities committed, as well as other events up to the modern day.

Nice review. While I did enjoy both sociology and philosophy in college, I think that this study of mans inhumanity to man is a bit too much for me at this time. It does indeed sound like a well written intelligent book though. Congratulations to the author on a terrific review.

Seems very interesting and while I don't know much about philosophy I feel like this book can present it in a way I could understand. I also need to read more non-fiction and this seems like a good pick.

The book carries deep thoughts from an author who gravitates to difficult subjects. I tried the sample and found it overwhelming. I need to find the time and space to take in the book's important messages.

It does seem like it can be intimidating for the average reader. But, I like philosophy and sociology.

Sounds like a serious topic. Your review makes it very interesting. I hope the author would also provide answers to the vital questions:

how are we able to execute such inhumanity, and by extension, how can we stop this from happening again?

It is interesting to know that this book focuses much on human cruelty and man's barbarious nature towards his fellow beings. I, like many others, strongly condemn this cruel culture and customs. Cruelty should be replaced with Compassion and condesence. I think it is a much needed topic to debate about and i am much relieved that somebody out there bothers to care about such issues.
