How did you feel about Sarah in the beginning?

to me,I found myself with mixed feelings when it came to Sarah in the beginning of the book. Parts of me felt bad for her and her situation. Other parts were annoyed with the way she reacted to Tom, William, and Myra. She was critical of everything from what they were eating to the lack of a television set.
How did you feel toward Sarah in the beginning? Did your feelings change throughout your reading?

Well rebellion runs in our veins and sometimes it is good to let it loose as she did but the danger may be in trying to rein it later . She tried her best as all of us are inclined to do.

I actually pitied her all through, and I wished they could leave her behind as they were going for the trip. When she came out brave, my thoughts changed. She actually became the help they needed all through.

I felt a little sorry for Sarah since she seemed to be "unwanted" by her grandmother who just dumped her on Tom without having ever informed him that he had a granddaughter. She was a typical teen so her attitude and the way she comes across was not unexpected.

At first she was so annoying to be me which made me not to like her but at the went on I did like her.

I thought she was bratty at first, for the reasons you mentioned. I came to like her more as it emerged that she was special; this emerged initially with her drawing talents.

Sarah narration was captivating and i felt myself contemplatig her charachter long after the story's end.

I was so tentative towards Sarah in the beginning because I really thought she'd be the stereotypical 'bratty teenage kid with a disregard for the rules', but I was surprised by how brilliant she actually turned out to be! Headstrong, independent, and quick-thinking. It was such a welcome turn around from what I thought she was going to be like.

At first, the character of Sarah in the beginning is not impressive but as the story goes on, she is now showing a very important part in the story.

Her age is also thirteen. Some people are in their best form at thirteen, in case after going through everything she's been through completely. She is pretty
