Ayn Rand's We the Living

Post by Lola82 »

Has anyone read this novel? I just finished it and was completely blown away. I tried to read it several years ago, couldn't get into it at all. I must admit that perhaps it was over my head or I wasn't too in to politics, but I've revisited it now and am so glad I waited. I have a great appreciate for this novel and will be getting my grubby hands on more Rand's works.

I read the introduction in the novel and other articles that assert Kira feigned love for Andrei, but I'm convinced that she did in fact love him. What do other people think of their relationship? Was it love or was it more admiration and respect on Kira's behalf?

Also, thoughts and opinions on the author and novel.

I've read The Fountainhead & Atlas Shrugged but I haven't got to We the Livingjust yet ... it's been on my list for sometime now.

Hopefully I'll get to it soon .. maybe over the Summer if I can make some progress with my ever growing list

Of the two novels you have read, which one would you recommend to read first? I think there's a movie based on Atlas Shrugged that's coming out soon...

I enjoyed both but if I had to choose I'd go for Atlas Shrugged
Didn't realize there was a movie of it must follow that up.
