Ebook Sharing Sites

Post by Carolyn_Clark »

Hi!
My friend and I were discussing over breakfast an idea for an online community library where for a small monthly or yearly fee you could rent, lend and share ebooks.
There would also be social networking-esque forums to discuss different genres, make recommendations or make requests for books.

Does this sound like something that this community would be interested in? Also do you know of any sites like this at this time?

Let me know! Thanks!

It sounds like it could be an interesting idea but truth be told it would be a difficult sell. For one unless you would be willing to pay licensing fees for books you would be relegated to the classics, that's not a bad thing entirely. Second you can just look at these forums. When someone posts about a specific book there will usually be on one or if your lucky two replies.

But hey I'm not here to discourage you I just think you would need to offer more than free downloads of text books, perhaps e-coffee.

One of my English professor once told me if libraries didn't exist and someone wanted to invent a library they would not be able because of copyright laws

so I go on torrents and IRC and get my books from there. I consider this an electronic library.

books I love I will buy
