New series vampire genre

I have been reading books by anew author and they are very good. Her name is Roberta Weathers and the book: Something in the Blood, number one in a series is great. Currently on Kindle but her web site says it will be in paperback in June. I don't know if anyone else has read her stuff but she's a pretty diverse writer.

I also like war memoirs and her husband has a book: A Boy in a Hurry for Manhood to Arrive about his time in the military. Very good also. If anyone else has read any of them, let me know.

I havn't read her stuff but I will have to check it out. I am completely hooked on the Sherrilyn Kenyon "Dark-Hunter" series. My kindle and credit card need a break as there are like 25 books in the series and as soon as I finish one I -have- to get the next!

It is a vampire series too, lots of fun characters that come back in other stories.

I liked Twilight the movies, but not the books. Something in the Blood is totally different, that's why I like it. It's more of a mystery and romance story all in one. Keeps me on the edge of my seat, hard to put down.

Thanks to the use of the word "romance", I will never touch this book unless I have sanitary wipes on hand. For heaven's sake, dosn't anyone these days realize that vampires are not romantic or tragic? Vampires are supposed to be souless, loveless, and rutheless killers who desire nothing more than to satiate their thirst, and though they are admittedly sexual, there is a little fact of which the idiot masses seem completely ignorant, that being, OVERT SEXUALITY IS NOT SYNONOMOUS WITH ROMANCE. I swear, Vampires have been warped so out of proportion that they more resemble perverts with a blood fetish than supernatural beings that once inspired terror in the hearts of men.

Perhaps they should be bloodless killers but you know, most women prefer them not to be. That is what makes them so popular in romantic situations. Most women lack romance in their real lives, but can read about it in books. So while many want vampires to be ruthless killers, well, only horror flick enthusiasts want them to be soul less. Because they are immortal, they make the perfect protector, but only for the ones they love, making them romantic too. I hear ya, but the population at large, mostly women, want romantic vampires.

i'm also hooked on The Dark Hunter Series, by Sherrilyn Kenyon, i'm not starting that series till i have all the volumes, have almost all of them... another series you might like is the Wings of the Night Series by Maggie Shayne

I like Christopher Moore's take on the vampire genre - it's got a little bit of everything. I suggest reading the trilogy:

1) Bloodsucking Fiends
2) You Suck
3) Bite Me: A Love Story

The Vampire Diaries

I thought the vampire diaries were poorly written, and they jumped around too much. If you're looking for a young adult vampire series try Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampire Series. There are 12 books in the series currently, and although they are very quick and easy reads, the characters are like your friends by the time you've finished. Story moves along well, and each book has a different theme.. it's not like some series I have read where the subsequent books just pick up where the last one left off.

If you're looking for a more "grown up" series, try Laurell K. Hamilton. Great books with strange twists and LOTS of interesting characters (of all supernatural types).

I myself am also hooked on the Dark Hunter Series. It is a must read. I have yet to get the 7th book Seize the Night.

When it comes to paranormal romance my number 1 author is Kresley Cole. Number 2 would be J R Ward followed by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Kresley Cole manages to write awesome sex scenes, and the dialogue is brilliant. She's right up my humour alley, but she also tackles serious well. Her characters aren't perfect and often have serious flaws.
