What was the last thing you made from scratch?

@Lincolnshirelass - I'm not exactly sure where they get the five minutes from; but you are correct, from start to finish it take a healthy four hours to go from flour to bread. I think they are trying to convey how effortless it is to make homemade bread-something that is very daunting to a lot of people. Of that four hours, the majority of it is passive rise time with a fair ten minutes of actual work. My husband can confirm that it is well worth the effort!

The last thing I made from scratch is a Norwegian pastry that my family and I make for the holidays every year. They are called Kringlas. The best Norwegian butter pastry you could ever have!

Before the holidays, I baked a red velvet cake with oreo buttercream frosting which was drizzled with chocolate ganache. If you've ever had either of those things separately, you know how delicious they are! Imagine how good it is when they are mixed together!

I cooked today. I made a curry of meat cutlets and baby potatoes.I first boiled the meat in a pressure cooker until soft. Meanwhile, I fried chopped onions with several spices in a pot. I then added the softened meat, mixed it with the spices and added some water to let it boil slowly. I then added the baby potatoes and let it boil until soft. I also made a soya beans dish with tomato sauce. Again, I fried onions, then added fresh tomato sauce and black pepper and salt. I added preboiled soya beans and let it cook in the sauce. Finally, I made roti's (an indian flatbread) to eat it with. These are made with flour, oil, salt and boiling water. It takes a long time to roll out and fry these, I asked my little sister to help me. Thankfully, everybody seemed to enjoy the meal and commented on how great the flatbread was.

In our Country we love to eat "Adobo." And that's one of my specialty. Ingredients for cooking Adobo are, Pork, Soy Sauce, Garlic, Ginger, and Vinegar. You can put also powdered pepper if you wish. The last time we eat dinner, I cooked Chicken Adobo.

Thanks to my 4-years old, I indulge in some cheese too. On demand, today I made some pepperoni pizza. Yes, right from the scratch. Some yeast, flour, water, honey, etc. etc. Oh and yes, we all love thin crusts, and more cheese. So there!

I make a lot of soup from scratch. It gets really cold in winter, and it's the perfect way to warm me up. I try to save the bits of vegetables that don't go into the pot for making more broth, but sometimes I don't have enough and I have to use the boxed broth. Most recently, I used a vegetable broth with some spices and a little red wine added, some mushrooms, leeks, and bell peppers, tofu and pasta to make a nice vegetable soup. I also like to make pozole like my mom taught me to.
