A quick thriller might be just the thing on this rainy Tuesday afternoon. If the slower parts get too slow, I'll probably just take a nap.

When the story starts juicy, you want to read again just in case you missed another juicy part.
Thanks for the review.

After reading the first few chapters in a sample I was relieved to be done. It's not my preferred genre and I just couldn't get engrossed in it. After reading your review it makes me wonder if perhaps I should have slowed down in reading it to fully grasp all the details.

The characters and their choices were so complex that I found it quite fascinating.

Thanks for the sincere review. I may not read the book as I don't fancy the story.

Your excellent review caused me to pause and rethink my initial reaction to the free sample. I did not like the language in both prologues, and don't enjoy reading books with a lot of slang. I am still not certain I will read the book, but I appreciate the fact that you read it twice and gleaned more of the story-line and characters.

This seems like an interesting read. However, I think I'll pass on this book. Great job on the review!

In fact I read it twice as I was wondering why I couldn’t remember anything outstanding and I actually picked up quite a bit the second time round which made me question as to why it didn’t stand out in the first read.
I'm glad you never gave up on this book. You still managed to submit a thorough review.

Amazing story that highlights the massive project of expanding the Panama Canal and the role a particularly unique protagonist plays in it.

The story did start with a bang. Too bad the excitement was not sustained. I'd say the book was "medium octane" but a good try nonetheless. I too gave it 3 out of 4 stars.

The plot of this book sounds very intriguing and complex! It's a shame that the "secret" was underwhelming and also that the pace is a little slow - you would expect a thriller to have an incredible twist and fast paced plot so that's a little disappointing. Still, I think I will give it a read and well done on a great review!

The story sounds pretty interesting. A shame it wasn´t very memorable, though. Great review!

It sounds like it could be a great book if it was handled differently. Reading a book twice to get the story can work if you have time to do it.

Sounds like a really interesting story. Its really too bad about the in and out in the pace though. I'd love to read the book myself
