Thank you for your poetic and descriptive review of this book. I like how you ask questions to draw in the reader. Many of the best books combine the good with the bad, but I'm sure a lot of people appreciate the trigger alert about the particularly tough scenes. You make me want to pick up this novel. Great job!

Thanks for your reply! You are right that the best books include contrasts, and of course tests for the characters.

It's so hard to see children exploited. I hope this novel will help people become more aware of the issues.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

Weighty themes explored in this book where a girl is sold to a circus in India. Sounds like quite the fascinating read. Definitely looking forward to reading it

Yes, I've heard circus kids may have similar experiences in Africa too. Thanks for your comment!

The fictionalized account of the lives of circus performers in India sounds intriguing. Too bad the book lacks a glossary, but at least the book has no serious shortcomings. Thank you for the warning about the graphic content, and thank you for the review!

The idea of a child being sold to the circus in India, albeit fiction is one that has likely happened before. This book probably brings socialization to this kind of activity, all the while providing an entertaining medium with this delicate subject. From the review, it looks like the author has done this expertly.

A story about a girl being sold by her parents to the circus in India sounds heartbreaking. Child trafficking and victimization of women and children is horrific in any form. This is a great choice for BOTD congrats to the author.

This story sounds like it started out almost like a Cinderella story where the other children where allowed to go to school and have fun, while the different child was made to work. The abuse of children is something a lot of people don't like but it's reality and a must read. I think I would like to see how this turns out, I would give it 5 out of 5 and recommend it.

I like women oriented topics. If it's about a talented heroine then even better 😇

I may have to read it just because I'm curious about the arrangement between her father and the circus owner. What was the contract, exactly?
