A mystery revolving around the murder of a news anchor and the inner workings of the media world sounds interesting. A pity the book didn't fulfill its promise and lost steam after a promising start. Too bad as well about the lack of character development and lack of suspense. I'm sorry that the book didn't live up to your expectations. Based on your review, I don't think this book is up my alley. Thank you for the insightful review.

It is true, the beginning sucked me in and now, after reading the review, I’m a little disappointed that this might happen. Of course, I’m going to continue reading and see what I think about the whole story line. So far it seems good.

I read the sample and this seems like a book I would enjoy. However, if I were the author, I would change Detective Richard Tracy's (Dick Tracy) name. I'm not sure if the author intended for the detective to have the same name as the iconic 30's comic strip, but it was distracting when reading the sample or maybe I'm just being too picky.

Even though it is a suspenseful thriller read, sadly it did not catch my attention. The plot started great but if it is heading down words then it is not for me. Thank you for your detailed!

It seems like a good read and also very unusual for a man to be killed in a news studio as that is where murders and all the worlds havoc is brought to light for the world to see.Even more surprising, they actually reported that someone was killed in their news room. This book seems to posses intrigue.

I'm disappointed that this books doesn't have better execution. I read a sample and thought it seemed great, but now I know the mystery doesn't last very long. Thanks for the review!

The storyline sounds engaging. Too bad the novel fell flat towards the end. Knowing the murderer half way through the novel might make the remaining story uninteresting. I think I might still enjoy it. Thanks for your in-depth and honest review.

Been looking for a good old fashioned murder mystery and this one looks like it fits the bill. I like the idea of learning the inner workings of a news station. Definitely be adding this to my TBR list and congrats on being BOTD

Sounds like it's a shame that the story ended pretty lackluster when it started with interesting beginning. The plot actually when I read the summarization of the book in this review, I actually wow-ed. I think this book has a wow factor to be a big hit book among crime, murder mystery readers. Well, that's just my opinion. Anyway, thank you for the great review. Insightful and deep review.

I was really disappointed to find that the fast-paced introduction to this story won't last the duration. I read the sample on Amazon and was impressed by the quick moving tempo right out of the gate. I admit, I'm not always a fan of being dragged along chapter after chapter of exposition before the mystery begins.
I don't mind knowing who the murderer is half-way through as long as it's suits the story. Knowing that the killer is standing next to my favorite character and said character has no idea that they are in danger really gets me going.
Overall, this is a very thorough and thoughtful review, and even though this book only received two stars, I am willing to stick it out - for a few more chapters, anyway.

Thank you so much for the review. I was so hooked on the first two chapters, I couldn't wait to read the whole book and find out eventually who the killer is, and how the relationship between Todd and Jake unravels, or how they are even connected to the murder. Its really disappointing to find that its not so great as it progresses. But I would still love to read it and find out for myself though... :) :) :)

For a second, I thought I had a new book to add to my "must read" list. Great synopsis at the beginning, too bad the author didn't keep up the intensity throughout the entire novel. I did enjoy reading your review.

It's such a shame when books start stripping and end falling short of their intent. I'll give this one a pass personally, as your review makes it clear it wouldn't hold me as well as other books in the C/T/M/H genre would. Thanks for the great review and I'm sorry that the book fell short of its intent.
It's amazing to see the world through the eyes of children. It's more fun to read with them, too.

I haven't read this book, but review was really exciting!! Really sad, that book, that starts so promising, in the end turns out not so good at all. But, who knows, tastes are different, maybe I must give a try to this book!! Because I always was bad at guessing, who is the murder. :)

Thanks for your review! I feel like crime and mystery novels fall into the trap of either being too predictable or completely unfounded. I’m disappointed that the ending wasn’t able to wrap everything up satisfactorily.
