Murder at Broadcast Park by Bill L. Evans (SPOILER)

I read the preview pages. My comments are based just on those pages as I have not read the entire book.

First, the title interested and intrigued me because of my professional experience in the news media industries. Initially I thought the character Paul having the position was totally unrealistic. I wanted more background information on Paul and the station. I continued reading because of the writing being in third person, which I enjoy, and I was drawn into the story wondering what had happened.

After Paul found the body, the story moved quickly without enough depth for my liking. Three to four characters were brought into the story without enough background or description. I thought, "Why would Brad tell Paul to call 911 and then call his personal friend William Tracy? When does a detective friend interview a witness before the assigned officers or first officers on the scene?"

I felt the description of what happened in the editing room was not correct and wondered if the writer had newsroom experience or had done enough research.

I am stopping at this point because I do not want to be a spoiler.

I started reading with the thought of reviewing. However, I am interested in the outcome of the story so I intend to read the entire book.

Murder at Broadcast Park by Bill Evans. I didn't read the book, but judging by the review, the story was clearly written, which is important since so many characters were introduced, early on. In a very short time, a list of suspects were introduced, keeping the story interesting.

After reading this review, I am glad I did not purchase this book! Like you, I too was excited by the fast pace of the first view chapters that I sampled and the fact that I had no clue who the murderer was or why! I am disappointed that the book does not keep that level of intensity throughout the plot. Thanks for the honest review!

I hate when you find out who the killer is way to early and that sounds like what exactly happens in this book. While the beginning sounds great I think I would very quickly be disappointed.

Thanks for the interesting review. That's too bad that you didn't fully enjoy this book. I've recently read it and I enjoyed it very much. I liked piecing together who the true culprit was and how they worked to try and keep themselves from being discovered. For me, it was an exciting story.

I want to read this book to know how the murder mystery was solved. Too bad about the obvious flaws.

Thanks for the very informative review. I find it interesting that after realizing who the killer was, you still didn't find the book exciting. I will definitely keep some of the points you mentioned in mind as I read the sample!

The novel would have been perfect if the author didn't introduce the killer so early.

I'm new to the review team, so I decided to check out your review to get a feel for what kind of reviews are expected. Great job! The first half of your review had me interested in reading the book, but I hate it when I figure out the rest of the story before the conclusion. I still may read it. Thank you for sharing.

Hmm. Too bad the book didn’t maintain the mystery a little longer. Maybe some people will love it and enjoy the author’s choice to do that more. I’m not a huge mystery fan, but the plot does sounds pretty interesting.

:) I have managed to read the first few pages and I though it was great and very engaging. I would love to read the rest of the book. Thank you for your review.

I love a good murder mystery with informative twist to it. When books can entertain and teach you something about an unknown subject, I think it has become a winner. I don't know much about the radio industry so I may have to check this one out.

In this review I appreciated the exciting opening scene and main characters. I had to wade through the extraneous information the further I read. I was disappointed by the end of the review and was unsure if I would read this book as a whole.
