No, thank you. No, thank you. No, thank you! Knowing the option is there would be soo tempting, but knowing when my time's going to be up?! I think that's a horrible idea for me. I would be calculating out my whole life, instead of just living it. I'm not against it happening at all, some may benefit from this knowledge. And it could even change some lives for the better. I'd rather live in ignorant bliss. :)

Well, the phenomenon known as death is inevitable no matter how one tries to be careful about not loosing his or her life...
Knowing about when one will die could be so scary and fearful...the declaration about definite death is mostly done in the clinic when one suffers a terrible disease and Doctor declares the ultimate remedy of death.
Anyway, the feeling is always not pleasant because one is not sure of the situation after death and above all,the painful feeling of loosing loved ones and detaching from the good flavour of what living offers.

Never mind of dying, what matters to me is that what I am going to die for or will I just die for nothing?

I personally would want to know just to prevent it from happening. But not all think so or want to know because it could haunt them the rest of their lives.

I think the technology presented in Final Notice, as I understand it, is very different from your question here.

In the real world, I think having such a comprehensive knowledge of someone's health, down to the time of their death, could only help doctors treat patients more effectively. How many life-threatening conditions have been passed off as something minor, then turned serious once it was too late for the individual to seek treatment?

In the abstract, though, knowing the exact time of one's inescapable death would be a very mixed bag. Surely some people would have incredible anxiety, but others might be inspired to set concrete goals and live life to the fullest, knowing exactly what their time limit is. I have to say I believe I'd fall into the former category.

Me personally I wouldn't want to know the exact time I die because I be so worried until that date. That I couldn't think of nothing else, and will not see the point in working or surviving. I would not want to tell my family, "oh, I am dying on this day." Sorry, hope you have an good life without me." That would be very heart breaking for me!!
Even through I believe I will be resurrected, but still don't want to know!!

I think there are two sides to the coin - first of all you might live life to the fullest and care less about stupid things if you knew you only had this certain amount of time. On the other hand, you might be too focused on dying that you live life in fear. I wouldn't want to know...

It's funny, but I was greatly reminded of Plato's Cave while reading Final Notice. Personally, I wouldn't want the knowledge of exactly when I'll die. I'm a steadfast believer in the concept that knowledge is power; however, in this case I think I'd end up "stuck", as it were. I'd be so focused on ensuring that family was taken care of I wouldn't be able to enjoy my remaining time. As it stands now, I try to live with a tempered balance of knowing that my life will end someday (hopefully in a more distant future), so I should enjoy my time while I've got it, but also not place myself into overly reckless situations at the same time.

If this were a trend in our society, I think a lot of people would be living in fear. It might make people kinder. You sure wouldn't want to be rude to anyone, especially if you saw them with a watch!

Interesting question. Personally though I would not like to know. I try to live every day to the fullest and will continue to keep doing this but if i were to know when I would die I feel I couldn't be able to live life to the fullest as i would be stressing and clock watching.

Live life to the fullest, I would never want to know when I will die. Even though it would be good and interesting to know , DONT FIND OUT!
If you found out the day you will die you would just dread it and not continue life as it were normal anymore.

It's dreadful and I do not know if I would really like to know. It might make me scared to live and to take risks. So I guess I would probably prefer not to know it so I can live peacefully while I'm alive. And there's always a reason why we do not know and we do not have a way of knowing exactly when we will die....

I would love to know when I was going to die. The knowledge that my death would be just around the corner would motivate me to achieve more in this life. As long as one does not fear death knowing when one is going to die makes the time we have on earth more special. Although, if one's death was a fixed date that could not be changed what would be the consequences for risk taking? Could I jump of the tallest building on the planet without being killed? Even with the possible lack of consequences I would want to know when I was going to die.
