A book about demons sounds like a fun ride. You gave a slight spoilers, but never mind. Two twin brothers decide to study for their SAT test in their friend's cabin in the woods, and find themselves in the eye of the storm. The demons are coming and only they can stop them! Horror with humor sounds like a good combination. I am glad you enjoy the tale despite the gore. Thank you for the review!

As a retired teacher (if one ever does retire from the profession), I found this laugh-out- loud material. The author's name is also such a take on J.R.R. Tolkein's that my funny bone was tickled from the very start to the nth degree. Combine Hogwarts with Spud, and you have this book taped. A laugh every ten seconds, let alone every minute.

Today's BOTD sounds like it takes you on a wild ride! I do not usually read books of this nature, but, being that I, myself, am an overly-stressed out high school teacher, this may just be the well needed stress reliever I've been looking for! A book on the subject of demons, a dagger with a soul in it which possess. How cool is that! I know I'll definitely like this book. Why? Because I love stories about supernatural, extraordinary, mysteries........... besides - smiling, laughing, humor, unique, fun and exciting read are all part of the qualifications of books I like reading. Am so curious to find out how they survive throughout the night and the outcome of their SAT scores. Lovely review.

I don't think that this book is for me as I don't like demons or anything of the sort. I do however appreciate the humour the book seems to have, and the fact that the author had a solid backstory. Thanks for the review!

Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison. High school, the trials of going to class and being bored reminds me of how I felt about some of my courses. Great description and can "picture" everything. The overbearing teacher and the class clown are so familiar. Great job, but I do believe it is better for older teens rather than younger.

The review makes this book sounds very entertaining. Who doesn't like a good laugh out loud, silly book sometimes? I like the character development with the high school kids and their interactions with demons. The cabin trip to the woods sounds like a total riot. Looking forward to reading this one.

I read a few reviews for this book and found myself getting intrigued by the story. I would love to read this novel. This book is definitely going into my to read list.

Great review! I just read the sample and between that and your review, I now simply MUST continue the story!

This is sort of a surprise for me, as YA books don't often hit "must read" status for me. But since it sounds like a book for mature teens, I'm hopeful that I'll enjoy it.

I have to say, nothing you said makes me think this book is inappropriate for young teens. I'm most definitely an adult now, but I would have enjoyed this book if it had existed when I was in junior high or high school.

So I think it'd be best for parents to decide. . . Is their teen mature enough for this book?

I wasn't sure about this, having had very mixed reactions to a book by the same author, but your review tipped the scales for me. If I can get a cheap copy, I'll take a look Demons are always interesting and your description of the talking dagger that only one character can hear made me smile and that's never a bad thing

Nice review! The book's not for me, however, I did pick up on the humor in the sample. Sounds like from your review, it's pervasive. Good to know - will pass this along to those in my circle who love this genre! Thanks!!
