You put your finger on it there - I really like the style and, although the beginning is slow, I wouldn't say I found it slack. Or maybe slack suits me - I like the slow burn. On the strength of your comment that the writer has tied up all the loose ends neatly, I'm going to try and go ahead and finish this one.

Thank you for this amazing review. I'm a fan of crime mysteries and I'd love to read this book. I like the part that you said when it seemed Shane is getting close to finding the perpetrator, a new clue leads away from it. For me, that's the key ingredient in crime mysteries.

While I like your description of Shane and that the book tackles the important issues of racism and sexism, I'm just not interested in reading this book, especially if it ends up throwing money laundering into the mix. Thanks for the very thorough review, though!

This is a really nice review. It makes me get convinced that the book is a great read. This detective story about finding out what happened to Flynn,a real estate agent, looks interesting going by the twists and turns in the journey of Detective Shanisha Notflarg in finding out the truth as highlighted in the review. This is a great review.

A lower rating would be unfair to this intelligently drawn-out story. Irregular fonts and a few grammatical mistakes lead me to deduct a point from it.
Bummer! Sad that it has grammatical errors. :( However, the plot does seem interesting, so I'll give it a try.

I always identify the killer halfway through a novel. Maybe I might be wrong with this one. We will see!

Initially I was not able to download the book, Amazon did not offer it free, but I did get the book from Smashwords and I am anxious to delve into it. The review was great. I look forward to seeing how this writer pulls together the story at the end. I do have a tendency to stop reading if a book does not grab my attention by the third chapter so I hope that the slow start picks up by then. All in all I think it will be enjoyable and look forward to finding the answer to the question of What happened to Flynn and all the side tracks that come with it.

Detective stories are a fun read. The reader wants to decipher what happened and who did it before the end comes. How skillful the author is to make a believable character with virtues and flaws. I like the fact that even though the character is biased, the reader isn't. Thanks for sharing your ideas about this book!

Your review has grabbed my attention and I can't wait to read this book. I think that your rating was fair considering the formatting and grammatical errors. I like that you were so detailed in your review because I never would have thought about biases when the story is told from only one character. I like that the author talks about racism and sexism in the police force.

The central issue seems lost in all the mess, but perhaps, this is what makes the story more realistic.
This is always the dilemma... how much mess to include to make it realistic but not too realistic that the reader is going, "Why am I reading this? This is boring. This is too much like real life and I already have to live real life and I'm bored with my real life so why would I want to read about it?" LOL

Just saying... LOL

I got my free copy to see "What happened to Flynn?"

This book looks fascinating, and completely realistic. I like the idea of finding how human someone is as the main character uncovers his life.

Thanks for your review. I appreciate the honesty with which you analyze the book, and am actually more inclined to read it based on 3 stars, than 4, as I like mystery/crime-related stories, even if the pacing at the beginning is off or slow. Also, I like that your review includes how the narrator of the story invariably impacts how we see the situation, and she sounds like a thoroughly developed character.
