I'm not a fan of poetry. So I don't think I would be reading this book anytime soon. Also the reviewer recommended this book for poem lovers which I'm not. No offense to anyone who loved this book or this genre.

I’m confused by this review because the sample I read included the table of contents. Maybe your kindle skipped past it?

Great review. I like poems that make me work, but only if they’re short, which these appear to be from your description of them.

Thanks for the review. I'm not interested in reading a collection of poems at the moment. Also, the sometimes confusing language is a drawback.

hsimone wrote: 03 Apr 2018, 07:03 This collection of free-verse poems does sound like it would give you a lot to think about with topics like everyday life, society, and faith. I find it unique that the author decided to not have her poems follow a set standard and that the tone is distinct. However, I'm not a fan of when I have to take so much time to interpret the meaning behind a certain text. It makes reading frustrating for me, which is not something I like to experience. However, I'm glad that you found joy in having to shuffle through the difficulty and found this read enjoyable. Thank you for sharing!
I agree that the meaning is not something that should be a guess. Good writers give multiple hints as to the meaning that may be elusive at first but become clear by the end of the poem/ story. That elusiveness is all a part of the mystery of what makes you keep reading further. To be able to do this is ingenious. Hats up to the author!

I greatly enjoy books of poetry, but I don't want them to tax my brain too much, and it sounds like this collection would, which is a shame because I like the idea of strength and defiance...at least in verse, *lol*... Thanks for the very thorough review.

POETRY! Oh my gosh, a poetry! I thought this is just an ordinary novel. I'm glad I came across your review. Thank you for it. I like poetries that are not easy to decode but still full of emotions. Anyway, I'm going to give this a try. Thank you

I really liked that the review pointed out how much the poet's personality came out in the poetry, that made me even more interested in the collection, as I think a lot of what drives meaningful poetry is personal expression.

I think that a book with poetry is intriguing because I like how the writer puts their emotion into it and that can make the reader "feel" the connection to them. I know that some poetry writers use "life experiences" to make the poem come to life and some of those experiences aren't easy to follow. I do enjoy reading poetry, none the less.

Glad to know the author covered some important themes. This is not for me. I really do not enjoy poetry but I did enjoy your review. Yours is the first on a book of poetry I have read and I didn't really know how one would evaluate poems but you did a great job.

Nice review. I am not into poetry despite many attempts to like them. Nevertheless, if they are simple, that is good. I know that poetry describes some aspects of our day to day living.

I hope the ink didn't spill while writing this review. Thanks for your review.
