I love when a children's book is educational and engaging. Great illustrations are key! The concept is creative and I love the little treasures in the story, such as the handwritten words and George Washington as a bald eagle. What a great review! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

A book on vocabulary will be a wonderful book for children, especially with those who struggle to differentiate between them. Cute illustrations!

Sorry if this is a repeat--my original reply seems not to have posted.

You have a great eye! I totally missed the George Washington portrait. I went back & looked after reading your review.

What a fantastic resource this is! As a former teacher, I was very impressed. Kids are knowledge sponges, but they often learn best when they don't realize they're learning, and Webb does a masterful job of weaving the lesson organically into the story. Kids will love her use of repetition, and those handwritten words you mentioned will help break up the text for them visually and keep them tuned in.

As a read-aloud book, I'd recommend this even for preschoolers. They'll understand the main character's shyness, and love the fun words. They can start absorbing knowledge about the parts of speech before the "official" lessons begin.

I will recommend this book to all the educators I know, and will be watching for the next release on prepositional phrases!

How come I only discovered this today??? I need this in my career! I kept on pinning and saving images for years now.

Oh, thanks for the review. Sorry about the rant. I got carried away because the review was really detailed and awesome. Thank you so much.

I like seeing that this book works hard to teach kids about the different parts of speech. So many kids books I think just focus on the drawings and telling a cute little story that they forget to educate. I'll definitely check this one out!

I'm always trying to enrich my vocavulary, so it's great to see a kid's book where the whole purpose is vocabulary growth.

I love the concept of teaching different parts of speech with the vocabulary. I also like the idea of adding in the lesson of making friends. Great review.

Great book for kids, I think they should write more books like this. At least it will help them benefit in their lives while they are growing. Overall great review

Thank you for a great review @BookishCreature. I like picking up new children's books for my niece and nephew. I managed to have a peek and the book is well illustrated. The vocabulary doesn't worry me much because children are naturally curious and they'll want to know what the words mean.

This was a very cute and educational book for young children. It discussed different words (verbs, nouns, adverbs and adjectives) and discussed how they can be used in life (such as writing a book). I do believe that children who read this book must already have a knowledge of what nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives are as it doesn't really teach anything about them, but just gives a general description. The story line, however, was sweet as it talks about making friends. The pictures in the book were cute and the book should hold onto a young reader's attention. I think most children between the ages of 6 and 8 should enjoy this book.
