Urban Fantasy is not my cup of tea, but you put a very precise review on this novel of E.R. Barr. You got me intrigued on what will happen in the end of the novel. Definitely, this will be on my “want to read” shelve. Thank you for a great review.

I love the statement that if the author made any mistake then it is for setting the bar of his future writing high. The book sounds good though I have not read it personally but would love to.

I was debating whether to read this novel or not but after seeing the reviews about it, I immediately added this to my to-read list. I hope this book is worth reading and spending my time on it.

Great review. I'm interested in the Celtic ties and the other-worldliness. The other-world building comes across in the preview, as does the strong character development. This seems to be a fresh breath in YA paranormal books. It's now on my to read list.

Great review and seems to be a very well written book! I'm not a huge fan of Urban Fantasy though so I'm not sure whether I will be giving this a try or not!

The plot about the protagonist making the choice to accept his destiny or end up being evil seems a bit overdone, at least for the books I've read. But maybe that's because I'm drawn to those types of stories in the first place. Your review definitely draws me in and this could be something I end up really liking.

I’ve never read any urban fantasy, but this fusion of celtic and American Indian traditions sounds interesting.

This is the best book review I've ever read on this forum. I enjoyed very much the review you gave this book and if it is even half as good as your review it will be a great book to read. I have found so often that books in this genre lack either good world-building skills or character development, to find one that does both is awesome. Thank you so much for this review.

I am a huge fan of urban fantasy, and the genre is pretty saturated right now with excellent authors, This book, however, really seems worth the read! All of the reviews seem to agree that in a genre dominated by a slew of great stories, this one is set to take its place among them, and I cannot wait to read it!

Urban, epic and dark fantasy.... once fast-paced, richly complex and intensely engaging....... mysterious celtic ancestry, puzzle of his bloodline, common heritage, darker secrets, Christian tradition, celtic myth and Native American folklore, destined to be the warrior of light, legends of a time before time...... and more. It has the quality and concept of an interesting book and I naturally love books that's about anything supernatural. I did love to read this book. Lovely review.

jacnthabox wrote: 12 Sep 2016, 11:16 If you like fantasy, or even if you don’t mind a little magic and mysticism in an otherwise excellent story, then Roan: The Tales of Conor Archer is for you. There’s not much negative to say about this first work from E.R. Barr. He has his own narrative style, which was sometimes off-putting as he likes to begin his sentences with verbs, but it’s easy to get used to.
You're very convincing, and I've enjoyed the free sample - E.R.Barr can certainly write. I do like the sound of the Celtic and Native American elements. However, for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, this one just doesn't appeal. Great review, though.

This book seemed so familiar when I saw it featured as BOTD today. I see I've already left a short comment on this review, but I completely forgot it. I hope I'll enjoy sampling it since you gave it 4 stars, even though I'm not sure how a mix of Celtic myth, Christian and Native American elements can work together. It seems a bit too much to develop in a single story, so I'm afraid the story might be rushed. It otherwise sounds good, mainly for younger audience, but I hope it will live up to the expectations.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like this book is so more in-depth than it would appear at first glance. I'm intrigued and can't wait to read this book!

Definitely was intrigued with the first paragraph. Seems like the biker, musician Conner Archer will be well on his way to an exciting adventure steeped in, Irish, & Native American folk lore.
