Thanks for the insightful review. This is not a genre I read but from the review it sounds like an interesting book for those who like historical fiction

Great review. There is so much we can and need to learn from those who lived through the Depression. This sounds like a great book. I especially love farming and food production and am always looking to learn little things here and there.

I would like to read about the love story of Charlene's parents narrated by her father to teach her untimely lessons about acceptance and moving on. I'm curious to know how their love endured in times of trials. I'll give this book a read. Thanks for the detailed review.

I'm especially interested in getting a feel for rural family life during the Great Depression. I also like that there is a story within a story and we get to experience the memories of Charlene's father right along with her.

I like the importance of stressing family and having good character and values. The title however is a big turnoff for me as I am not religious therefore I won't be reading the book because of the many references to God. Sounds like a great, well-written book and I would recommend it to my friends though. Thanks for the review!

I cannot wait to sit down to read this book. I use to love sitting on the porch listening to my Great Grand mother Dora and her sister Sadie talking about coming over on a boat to America and what it was like here back then.

I love how in-depth you've gone with the character descriptions. This sounds like one of those rare books that will make me laugh, cry, smile, and probably angry at times. I've always enjoyed the writing technique of a flash-back love story used to give clarity and comfort to the protagonist. It reminds me of The Curious Case of Benjamen Button and The Notebook, in a sense, but draws in historical elements that are relatable. I wasn't alive during the great depression, but I think most people are familiar with it historically. I'm looking forward to giving this one a go.

The death of a loved one is never easy to overcome. It's nice to be able to read about and learn from other people's struggles. It is a way to help people in similar situations cope.

Death brings about changes in people in many ways sometimes you don't know how to cope with it and you feel like there's nothing you can do this book is a very interesting one it's about who husband die and she don't know what to do how to live with this feeling of guilt she turned to her father to asked him for help and he tells her a story of four strong character from different backgrounds and how they go about facing there problem one of the best book ever written by Rhett G. Wintch.

I'm not normally into either historical fiction or romance. However, with the Christian slant, not to mention following your awesome review, I'm willing to give it a try. I especially like that the couples live on farms, as my maternal grandparents had a farm in MS. My mother now lives on the portion of farm she inherited, and I still like visiting there. I'm also curious about the lesson Char learns and how she's ultimately able to cope... I am confused, however, about the two couples; which couple, exactly, are Char's parents, and who are the other people? Friends of Char's parents?
