The American Sheep

Post by knightss »

We hide in the shadows of the ambitions of the aristocracy of America. We are the shy sheep, afraid to open our mouths and lose the hair off our backs. When backhand deals and hidden ventures become the norm, when greedy lobbyists who corrupt those that are suppose to be representing our interests run the country, what is government? Is it still the road to liberty and freedom, or does the road lead to the cliff’s edge? What happens when people put their trust in political officials, who with sleight of hand, ambiguous words and an amiable smile, are herding them to the slaughter?

Where are the modern day battle cries? Where are the protests through the streets?

The people are forgoing their power and rights. The younger generation--my generation--knows nothing of government, nothing of their rights, caring only for the comfort they find in ignorance. With our consent, we trade education and personal freedom for video games and "reality TV," feeding the very ones that indulge our escape from true reality.

We are behaving exactly how the political aristocracy and their corporate allies want while our nation erodes and their pockets grow thicker. This country was founded on the belief that men had the right to govern themselves. Government was established to create and uphold our rights. It has now become the chief institution that infringes upon them.

Given the choice of going to the slaughter or having its fur shaved, a sheep will always choose the latter. The sheep may feel he’s gotten the winning proposition, but fails to see he’s lost his coat while the herdsman sits comfortably in his wool. And if the herdsman decides he needs meat...

:D haha umm,

(When backhand deals and hidden ventures become the norm, when greedy lobbyists who corrupt those that are suppose to be representing our interests run the country, what is government?

Unfortunately that right there, what you said for the most part seems to be our government

(Is it still the road to liberty and freedom, or does the road lead to the cliff’s edge)

Very good question! I definitely think there is an edge there, but I have hope and I think we can (repave) the road to liberty and freedom. I love when people take the time to speak out, not hold back because of fear, just like your doing here :D
And by doing this you're at that (edge), speaking out and defending the so called (sheep). You've got balls dude..you're standing there at the edge putting them in their (government) face!

(The people are forgoing their power and rights. The younger generation--my generation--knows nothing of government, nothing of their rights, caring only for the comfort they find in ignorance. With our consent, we trade education and personal freedom for video games and "reality TV," feeding the very ones that indulge our escape from true reality. )

This is a sad truth for most..but not all shepherd boy  But your grasp on the subject holds so much truth, it is quite shameful

Sooo metaphoric! I love it! You hit the hammer right on the nail! :D

:D I'm really glad you wrote this, your concept is wonderfully written, you've put alot of thought into this I'm sure :) Whenever you decide to run for office let me know, you have my vote!! :D

You must know, without me saying so, that I love it.

I think your piece of writing is simply wonderful. It exposes the truth that many choose to ignore, and I particularly love the last paragraph .. :)

That was a great post! Not everybody can understand or relate to what you said there but I totally agree with you, and like others have commented already the last line is superb...really makes a person think. Let's not move along in a blind heard anymore.
