Could one make people into zombies?
Get ready to dive into a comprehensive and entertaining Zombie-encyclopaedia: this book will not make you gain broad learning on interesting facts about the Z-side of the undead world, but also will turn you into a passionate fan. The text is catching and full of attention-grabbing anecdotes, fun facts and curiosities that probably the most of you (yes, also zombie fans) probably don’t know yet. The chapters are accurately organised and the grasping headings will help you to decide whether following the order or choosing the parts you want to ‘bite’ first.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The arrangement of the whole is clear, accurate and catching. Every section initially investigates the topic in a more general and exhaustive way, then at the end the readers can have fun satisfying their curiosity deepening specific aspects or exploring further the examples that have been made above (movies, video games etc.). For instance, the history of movies about zombies is exciting and carefully divided up from the most popular examples (like the well-known ‘Romeros’) up to the sub-genres of Nazi-Zs. More references to different sources, such as books or newspapers where the notices have been found, would add a kick-ass plus to the whole.

Zombie fans, horror movie fans and in general ‘The Walking Dead’ generations will really appreciate reading about the whole history of the zombies and its tangling with past and current history. However, also people who have recently approached Zombieland and want to get a better grip on them, would find it a thrilling start. Interesting categories and references might be eye-catching for the ones interested in the history of the movies, history of the music, makeup or even for wedding planners. No spoilers here, nevertheless the last chapters of the book are the less obvious and would likely get the reader engaged with everyday life’s aspects, like leisure time activities that have developed zombie-themed events (marathons, gatherings, pub nights…). So, get ready to have a daily catch up with Team-Z.

Through this book, you will discover that there is a huge variety of topics that can be related to zombies. It almost seems to claim, in the end, that zombies are not so horrible as they seem if you consider that they allow to people to socialise in zombie events and that people from different social backgrounds or with diverse interests can be connected by one of the aspects of the zombie universe.

Before reading The Ultimate Guide to Zombies, I was more into vampires and ghosts and only fancied taking pictures with ‘zombies’ at comic fairs. Now, Dave Robertson certainly got me interested and fascinated by these creepy figures, that nowadays lurk also on Whatsapp emojis. I think this book is definitely a must to read for every zombie fan or every horror-addicted guy. When I finished to read it I thought that now I am unquestionably ready for a Zombiedom (probably not a survivor) and I have been seriously considering to have a zombie-themed party for the next occasion I am going to celebrate!
