Wow, Teesie, you must really be hooked on the idiot box. But I can remember when I was a kid, we had just got a tv set and back in those days tv's werent all that dependable, sometimes they were in the shop more than they wernt. When our old Stromberg-Carlson was in the shop which was quite often, some shows we couldnt miss, like Dragnet or Milton Berle we would go to my cousin's house to watch them. He was the only other person we knew who had a tv set. If their tv was out that was a disaster. My dad would be especially pissed if he couldnt watch Uncle Miltie. Yes, things were rough in the old days but we survived.

I've been kinda holding this in for a while. I personally hate driving so when it came to taking my drivers test I failed twice so far. The first time was because I didn't turn my head far enough to do lane checks, and the second time was because I accidentally jumped a curb on my Y turn. Recently my dad got a new job that makes it so he's never home much (and he was my driving teacher) and now he's saying that I have to pass because he's never going to be home to practice with me for another driving test. Also it doesn't help when he compares me with my older brother who passed on his first try. Altogether I have two days until I have my next test and I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders... which kinda sound ridiculous.

My advice would be get a qualified instructor to give you a few lessons ... I don't think family are ever the best people to teach someone to drive.
That said ... best of luck with your test & try to relax (I know easier said than done!)

I agree with Fran. Family teaching you dosent work. My dad taught me how to shift, use the clutch, etc but for everything else I had to take a driving course. Same with my kids. I taught my kids the basics but they took the high school driving course. I dont know how it is where you live but in Utah if you pass the high school course you automaticlly get your licence. No tests, you just show them the school certificate and they give you the licence.

^^I only learned from my mum, dad and older brother and passed the first time round. I think professional instructors are best though. Good luck Trillian, I really hope you get it this time!

i really don't like it when someone feels as if they are better than everybody else in a discriminating way. those people are always the first ones who gets on my nerves.

We had a power outage last night, from San Diego down into Baja where I live. It was off here for about 12 hours. Its on here now but some places it is still off. I guess some clown in Arizona pushed the wrong button or took out a peice of equipment he shouldnt have. Wouldnt want to be in his shoes. I wasnt worried, I have a gererator and candles but I went to crank up the generator the damn thing was out of gas. I forgot to get gas for it last time I used it. Then my e reader battery was dead, talk about being prepared. But I survived, luckily I have paper books.

I'm tired and stressed over what's happened. I've had a swollen neck, a sore throat, coughing up blood, and not being able to swallow things or talk properly.

It doesn't sound as bad as it actually is, although it hurts like hell.. I think I'll just be alright.

Yeah, I'll ask my parents if they'll be able to fit me in the doctors within the holidays. It's getting pretty rough.
