One stormy May night, Tom Olsen and his Native American friends were packing for a much-needed camping trip deep into Washington State Olympic wilderness. Tom is planning on visiting his grandfather Bob-Bob’s grave to return something he took years ago, a very old Native American artifact.

While the three of them were packing, Toms abandoned granddaughter Sarah, a 13-year-old troubled girl, shows up at his door. Now Tom is forced to make a decision, should he cancel the trip or take Sarah along? After days in the wilderness, the three adults are forced to ask themselves, “Are we taking Sarah on this trip, or is she taking us?” Strong Heart is the name Sarah earns for her courage, perseverance, and strength.

After wandering away from the camp Sarah is missing for eight days. After unsuccessful attempts to find her people are forced to give up. But, Tom is determined to find his granddaughter. After Sarah is found she comes back with a story that is hard to believe. A story that proves a theory that has been argued for years. A story that proves the wilderness is magical and anything is possible.

Strong Heart is a book full of adventure, inspiration, and facts. It teaches us the hardship Native Americans face, the true meaning of friendship, and the importance of doing the right thing.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because Strong Heart it is a very well written captivating story that is historical, educational yet heartfelt that keeps the reader's attention. It’s a true page turner that you can’t put down. Charlie Sheldon has successfully created a well-written story inside of a story. The book Strong Heart would appeal to a variety of readers because is multidimensional.

What I like most about this book is the way the author has woven facts into the storyline without compromising the story or causing the reader to become bored. Each character was true to life and made their own footprints in my heart as a reader. I love a book that stays with you long after you have closed the last page. Strong Heart is one of those books you could read again and again.

What I liked least about the book was really nothing. Reading is my passion and I usually stick to authors I am familiar with, but now I have found a new one to add to my list. I am looking forward to reading more works by Charlie Sheldon.

Thank you for your review. I also think that the author, indeed, has a good flair for interweaving mystical folklore and scientific thinking.

I totally agree that the characters stick with you! Have you read the second book in the series, Adrift? The continuation of this story takes on some new twists. I highly recommend it!
