Superhighway by Alex Fayman is a fast-paced exciting read. There is never a dull moment in this tale. It can easily be read in one sitting, and it’s very difficult to put the story down in order to attend to real life’s daily needs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes an action packed, unpredictable story.

The story starts with a strange and confusing scene which foreshadows danger and immediately captures the reader’s attention. You are instantly left with wanting to know more. The chapter changes and all of the sudden we are at the beginning of the story of Alex, a lonely orphan boy. His only friend is the head mistress of the orphanage. He has no idea who his parents were and has always had trouble with being in a foster home. Little does he know that he has a superpower which gives him the ability to teleport through the internet and receive any kind of information imaginable.

Alex’s journey growing into his superpower is not without its trials. He battles many foes of different origins including himself. He experiences love for the first time as well as overwhelming grief and guilt. He wants to do good but does not always end up in good situations.

Alex Fayman, the author, does a great job of keeping the reader interested. I hardly wanted to put the book down. He starts off keeping the reader guessing and draws you in. He is very descriptive of Alex’s superpower which, for being an abstract concept, he does a great job of guiding the reader to experience. You can feel exactly what the protagonist goes through when using his superpower. Fayman presents his idea of Alex’s superpower with vivid tangibility. Alex’s story is far from predictable. You think the story is turning right and it goes left. Being a trilogy, the story leaves you hanging but still wraps up well enough to leave the reader satisfied yet wanting more.

The chapters are fairly short which is part of the reason why the book goes by so fast. Occasionally the chapter breaks seem out of place like a commercial that was stuck into the middle of a fight scene. This, however, did not impact my excitement or eagerness to keep reading. There were only a few minor errors grammatically and a continuity error, but these, again, did not hinder the story. The only other part that needed work was some of the romance which seemed very rushed and not fully formed or sincere. Fayman definitely has a knack for keeping things exciting, but needs to work on building the relationship between the characters in order for the reader to be more empathetic. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am excited to continue the journey of Alex and his incredible superpower. I easily rate this book 4 out of 4 stars despite its few shortcomings.

Yes that part frustrated me as well. Maybe in the second book he can learn from his mistakes.

There are definitely some issues there, but it's still a great read. The character is just not your typical hero type. He definitely has issues but I think it makes him more original and helps with the plot not being as predictable as you think.

Ah! Thank you for the clarification - I always prefer flawed characters in my books as I feel that it makes them more relatable and human. There is nothing more disappointing that reading about a Mary Sue, or in this case, a Gary Stu!
