I love the author's poetic usage of words in this book. They create dreamy moods and emphasize an issue or a description of an object. Sorry about the editorial issues. Great review.

From the little I read about this book, I could not but agree with the reviewer about the poetic style and how confusing it gets with the sentences. I do not think this is the book for me either, even though i have occasionally enjoyed a poetic book.

This sounds like an excellent beginning to a book! However, I would be greatly disturbed by the wonky grammar and punctuation. Some tightening up and strict editing may make this a lovely little gem. Thanks for your review!

I'm not into poetry so I would surely bypass reading this book. A thorough editing might change my mind from just keeping this book in my "to-be-read" shelf into reading it immediately next to my currently reading book. Poor grammar is a turn off. I wonder what the author means by "songses" or if she means "songs". The excerpt you quoted has not piqued my interest. Thanks for the detailed review.

This looks like the perfect opportunity to jump start my adolescent's sea-voyage craze. After this, Treasure Island and 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea. This also looks like a good example of poetry.

A fantasy revolving around two kids and a dog who set on a quest sounds nice. Too bad that the writing style leans more towards poetry than prose. The inclusion of mythology and classic literature is a plus, but I am not fond of stream-of-consciousness writing. Thank you for the review!

There's a difference between good poetic writing and just lazy attempts at poetic. From the sample, this feels like the later. It's quite possible the editors mentioned this and the author just didn't want to change it, which is sad because the story had potential. I just don't think I'll be continuing it.

I read the sample of the book and it just doesn't work for me. The inspiration drawn from Rumi is the bright star in this otherwise dark night. Might have to skip this one.

Great review though.

"Voyage of Pearl of the seas"written by Ruth Finnegan, well reviewed and rated 2-4stars, to be frank owed me little or no attraction to read becouse am not a litterature student of sort. But considering the review, i would state that the author as a good story teller and having a sound knowledge of his story did a lot presenting the best he could;am of the opinion that he should apply more effort creating what will please readership

The excerpt you showed was a huge run on sentence. I do not think I could read much of the book myself. That would be a big distraction. I enjoyed your review.

Thanks for this detailed review. This story seems really good for people who enjoy this kind of book. But I must say after this review I can see that this is not a book for me. The literature side puts me off a little.

Too bad about the punctuation and grammar failure. I think re-checking the book would do the trick. I enjoy reading poetry interwoven within a good story, especially if it has good abstract illustrations. Perhaps the author was aiming for that, but couldn't achieve it properly.

I won't be reading this book because I read several of C.S. Lewis's books and the genre just isn't for me. Congrats to the author for being compared to C.S. Lewis!

So sad that you had problems with it. This book really does remind me of CS Lewis based on your review. Also glad that there are illustrations.

Nice, candid well written review. I understand what you mean by poetry looking like prose. Sometimes it has a way of making the messages not to be passed across lucidly. Well done!
