Good review. But I just want to point out that love and infatuation has no regard with someone's status in life. There is no such correlation of the two. To fall in love is to become childish. About the story, I love the plot of a spy falling in love in a strange island, for this case Ireland. Well, I'll definitely read this book. Kudos to the author. Thank you for the review!

Sounds like a complicated read. I got to know about the conflict between Protestants and Catholics through the Tv Series called Reign, it is about Mary, Queen of Scotts. It is very interesting to see a glimpse of past in a read that affects the present. The cover illustration does not match the story line of the book though. Thank you for your review!

Unfortunately this one is not for me. This genre and storyline are just not capturing my interest at all. I guess I'm not big on history in general and the sailing descriptions in the sample made the first couple of chapters drag. I also find the dialogue a bit hard to follow.

I've only vaguely heard of the conflicts in Ireland, but I've always been interested in Ireland as a country. So I'm excited to check this book out. It seems like it would help educate while also giving us some romance and action. Great review and I'm glad you could give this book 4 stars.

Being Irish I am always interested in reading books about our turbulent history. I found the sample of the book to be gripping and I am very much intrigued to read more about how a non Irish character-a CIA agent sees us. It’s an interesting idea-to view and experience our past through the eyes of an outsider. Being from the Republic of Ireland I was lucky enough to not experience any of the Troubles but knowing it took place in my life time makes me want to learn more about it. And I love learning more about history through historical fiction.

This is a great review that helps me to visualize a fleet of story in mind. I think you have made a significant improvement in writing overview. You said about characters, turing points and emotional bond. With hightlight on main scence, it attracts me to dig deeper. I have learnt to skip some stories and understand overview. The story helps me to develop a skill and entertains me to read a few book in different ways. Thank you for Today's Post. :techie-studyinggray: :techie-studyingbrown:

I do not know about Ireland, but this book sounds great in order to learn about it and their conflicts. The author uses a very original point of view. Thanks for your review! I will be reading this book very soon.

Thanks for the review! I'm not typically one to be drawn to books about history, but based on the sample I might try this one out. From your description, it sounds like the main character Joe is a likable protagonist to follow, while Fiona sounds like an interestingly-developed character, as well. I'm very glad that the author wrote such strong-sounding characters and didn't sacrifice them in favor of only focusing on the setting of political Ireland.

I actually am fond of Ireland and it's renowned lush greens, but I have never imagined it to be as conflicted as it is portrayed in the book. Historical fiction, with a little bit of romance, is not my cup of tea; however, it is quite interesting to know the history of the country. I only hope the love story involved is not that long.

I don’t know much about the Irish culture, and this looks like a good starting point with first hand accounts.

It's interesting to read about how the history of the past is affecting the generations to generations and how one will slowly uncover the root of this problem. The only book that I ever read which takes place in Ireland is by Cecelia Ahern. It's good to know there's another book based in Ireland.

You did a very nice review. Sounds like the author does a good job of bringing a hidden complex division into the light in an entertaining way. I would be interested to know though if her brings bits of real history into the story to fill out the whole picture. Either way, nice job.
