I have to be in the right mood to appreciate the deadpan wit in this type of book. It sounds great for those who enjoy this genre!

it seems like a good read about boys trying to solve social and natural casualties but I find it more for the younger generation

While I'm not familiar with the comparisons you mentioned, I guess I'd enjoy reading this book as much as you did based on the words written in this review. It sounds like a delightful and entertaining read.

It appears this book is reality in fiction, i like books that come in this way. Books that address the reality of life and at the same time giving the reader a great pleasure.

Loved reading this excellent review for Masterminders which promises to be a super hilarious journey into the life of Terry and his new friends at Catholic school. I love sharp, witty satire and the unique British sense of humor. The first page few pages made me laugh, especially the reasons for the lack of tourism to the Island. No great satire would be complete without a mention of the weather. I enjoy it particularly when it takes a jab at current events and when you can read something about a character that reminds you of someone you knew. This will be a great read for me and I shall enjoy looking back at my favorite parts from time to time.

It would have undermined the witty quality of the book if Basi had lingered on her characters’ inner lives. We know Bobby and Terry by their works, and the rest of the cast by their levels of eccentricity. Mr McStrumpy, former world sheep-throwing champion, stands out as the most Pythonesque character in Masterminders. "
After reading the excerpt of the book, I was confused. I didn't understand why the characters spoke the way they did - one character seemed quite stuffy, and to call a person "the half" seemed kind of mean. Your review helped things make more sense. The expressions used by the characters are quite funny, when viewed as a Monty Pythonecse type of book.

I'm not sure I would finish the book, probably because that type of humour flies over my head!

Upon looking at the cover, this looks like Harry Potter fan fiction, but it's so much better. I appreciate the dry wit involved. I cracked up at the idea of a parrot continuously vomiting.

How do people come up with that stuff? Your review made it seem very intriguing. Originally, I wasn't interested in reading this, but now I might have to give it a shot! Nice review :)

Never judge a book by its cover definitely comes into play here. This novel sounds like a fun read. I was not expecting it to be about school age children and the shenanigans they create.
