This historical fiction looks like another winner! I especially have enjoyed WWII historical fiction of recent, and this looks like it fits the bill.

This review captures perfectly the challenge faced by ordinary people thrust in to the extraordinary and terrifying experience of war. I especially like the way you contrasted the enormity of the situation with the small detail of the sandwich. This suggests that the author pays attention to telling details that humanize the situation and serve to carefully develop characters. The synopsis definitely makes me want to read the book and find out how he handles this challenging story.

WWII impacted so many lives that sometimes I can´t even fathom it. Kids had to grow up faster than they should because of the circumstances. And I´m sure even if this book will wrench my heart and I´ll probably cry and suffer, I´m going to love it.
Probably if the author speaks many languages, it´s easy to get them mixed up, hence the spelling mistakes. But I get you couldn´t give it 4/4.
Thanks for a great review.

Normaly I'm not interested in war stories. There's too much else too enjoy. This book, however, is now on my radar. It sounds like an amazing story

Thanks for the review. It is very nice. Sad to hear about the errors you have highlighted but I think that the book seems very interesting such that one cannot easily notice them. I like historical fiction and what makes this one more captivating is the fact that it presents the life of an ordinary person through World War 1.

I don't usually read historical fiction books, so I'll take a pass on this one. I read the sample and I did notice that there were some French terms included in the text which I found to be pretty interesting. Great job on your book review!

It's nice to hear such enthusiasm for today's BOTD! Even though your review was excellent, I know that it is not the book for me. Still, it sounds like the plot is fast moving, and the character development is outstanding. The reader is sure in for quite the emotional ride with this one! Thank you for your review! :-)

Kamel by Charles Haubner III is a historical fiction about World War I and Kamel's coming of age. The story revolves around him and his grandfather. Kamel is a French boy who doesn't wanna inherit the family farm, but loves to hunt with his grandfather. How will he survive when his entire family was slaughtered by the German troops?

I'm sorry to hear about the grammatical errors that made you deduct a star from the perfect rating you would have loved to give. Thanks for the great review.

This sounds like a profoundly moving story. I haven’t read many accounts of WWI, so I look forward to this one. Great review!

Excellent review for this book about Kamel, a young French boy caught up in the atrocities of war during WW1. This promises to be an interesting piece of historical fiction. I am interested in seeing Kamel’s growth from a boy to a man and the difficulties he will face in the process and how it will affect him. Despite grammatical errors and the need for tissues, I believe I shall still enjoy this story.

The cover definitely caught my eye. I am not a fan of historical fiction so I added this book to my not interested in reading shelf. The emotional plot of the protagonist losing his family will capture the attention of the right audience.

Kamel by Charles J Haubner III ...the cover picture of this book looking too much interesting but the story material was boring. the writer tried to make it a history mix story but in some parts of this story, had no link with another part...honestly I will say that I don't like this book... :cry2:
