This seems like a tear jerker and I don't know if I want to read something like that right now. It does look pretty good through, so I'll add it to the maybe pile. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but bummed about the grammar.

I am an emotional person and I'm sure that this book would really pull at my heart strings. Kamel's loss of his family is so sad. I would be interested in learning more about how the ordinary citizen lived and survived during WWI.  Your review is excellent.  If I have time in the future, I want to read this book.

Thanks for the review. It not only summarized Kamel by Charles Haubner, but you also gave examples into the true depth of the book. Looks like a good, if not sad, read! Thanks again

It seems interesting with the boy and grandfather struggling to keep alive during the war after whole family was slaughterd. It's like they give each other support, strength and look after each other.

I'm not a lover of historical stories, but something about Kamel's story intrigues me, maybe it has to with the review. I'll give the book a read

It's a shame when the author is inconsistent with the details. Regardless of how minor they may be, it detracts from the story and becomes annoying. Though I'm not sure which bothers me more, inconsistent details or consistent misuse of a literary device. Anyway, good job on the review.

It sounds interesting shows how unpredictable life can be. The is no place like home but really painful when home is no longer there.

Your review is great. Sadly, I’m not fond of war stories, especially World War I, so I’ll skip on this one.

Another interesting historical fiction. I like that it is set in France. I like reading about different cultures as well as different time periods. Thanks for your review.

Thank you for the well-written and thorough review! I normally am not drawn to historical fiction stories, but I do tend to love coming of age novels. All things considered, my interest is definitely piqued and I plan to read this one! Thanks!

I really like historical fiction and war stories, especially emotional ones, so this review makes me think I would enjoy this book. I like when books are written in the first person because it makes the characters feel so much more real, so I'm excited to read this book.

Good and descriptive review. Though it is a world war related fiction, I don't see this book as a thriller. Yet I would like to give it a try and see whether the review has done a fair job. Congrats on being BOTD
