Fran, you have got it again, good old Winnie, he has some great quotes. I have heard or seen your quote before, I just can't get it yet. I will find it soon, its a good one. :)

Finally found it Fran, it is none other than the famous Voltaire.

How about,

EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD - I had a lot of elder statesmen making that quote in my head but finally found out it's Nelson Mandela.

Now here's a modern one which may not be well-known. I have tried to commit it to memory for the moment when I come up against another technological advancement:

"YOU CAN'T STOP CHANGE COMING ... YOU CAN ONLY USHER IT IN AND WORK OUT THE TERMS. IF YOU'RE SMART AND A LITTLE LUCKY YOU CAN MAKE IT YOUR FRIEND."

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.

Thanks for showing some interest Maud. It seems that not many people like quotes. :( I love the quote you have posted, I am yet to find who made it but I will. :)

I have a bunch-of-dates on my desk which flips over each day and each day it has a new quote. Have you found the originator of the above quote, Gannon? (Hint: political leader)

@Maud Ahhhhhhrrrrrr, I cannot find the author of that quote. I have been searching through every calender thingy I could find. Could you please give me another clue, perhaps his or her initials, or maybe what country they come from, or maybe what time period the quote was made in, or maybe their first name, or maybe their last name, or maybe both names. :D

I can see steam coming out of your avatar's ears, Gannon.

This is a modern quote, perhaps not widely known but certainly used in business circles. The man in question used it in his election speech in November 2008. He is the 'first', a real Yes We Can kind of guy.....

'Why is the rum gone?'
'One: It is a despicable drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. And two: I've created a column of smoke that rises a thousand feet in the air. My father's ships will be combing the area. Do you think there is even a chance they won't see it?'

Too easy. I was given a beautifully illustrated book of quotations and on the right page, resplendent in chunky heels, severe suit, firm hair and perfectly angled handbag, is Margaret Thatcher. On the left page in bold black lettering are those very same immortal words.

On the previous page there is a quote from ............... "I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR".

Jack Sparrow, what a classic, he cracks me up.

@Maud
I know that Helen Reddy sang the song, is that correct? You got the Margaret Thatcher one too easy.

This wouldn't have anything to do with the Goliath Corp and the Toast Marketing Board, would it?

:D Haha. No it is actually a quote from a very famous person. You got me with Barrack Obama, I think I have got you with this one. Take your time trying to figure it out, I don't think anyone else is playing.
