An American student involved in a secret society needs to locate two heirlooms otherwise his life is at risk? Sounds exciting! I like how the author takes you back into the past to show how the heirlooms went missing. It's great to hear that the author did a great job in describing the French history and landscapes. Too bad about the typos, but I'm glad you found the writing to be superb. I love how excited you are about this book and that you feel those who enjoy Les Misérables would enjoy this one. I don't personally have any interest in reading about France, but I'm glad you liked this one!

So far I have only read the free excerpt given on Amazon but based on your review of the book I am intrigued enough to continue reading the book to its end. Now as to the typing error you found (arouse vs. arose) perhaps that was the spelling back in that time period. Languages are constantly be changed as to how we spell words or pronounce them.

Your review makes it sound like a combination of history and mystery. If well done, these should be an enticing story and, as you said, one that the reader cannot pout down. Even the conclusion leaves the reader wanting more to the tale. Kudos!

This book sounds both exciting and intriguing. I do not remember much about French history except for the major events like the French Revolution. I have seen the movie Les Miserables and I would someday love to read the book. I like that this historical fiction novel gently took the reader through the different time periods and added the details as the story unfolded.

I normally enjoy historical fiction, but upon reading the sample I did not become engaged at all. I did like the section talked about the Masons though.

After reading this glowing review, I would be hard pressed to pass on this book. The plot summary was eloquent and very interesting. I was also glad to hear about the cliffhanger at the end. I may wait to read this until the sequel is published! Thank you for the great review.

I don't usually read historical fiction novels, but I might add this book to my list. I like how there is mystery and adventure included. However, I don't know much about French history so I like how this book explore different places. Great job on your book review!
