This one sounds
particularly interesting with the case of the lost heirlooms
and the secret societies. It also offers a wonderful
chance to revisit France in two different times.
Congratulations on the BOTD.

Nice, what a good review. Thanks for this review, it's excellent.
I am quite moved by this book. Historical writing alone is a lot for me. The secret society to the list makes me interested even more

I'm normally not a fan of historical fiction, but you made this book sound amazing! I'm especially interested in the secret society and "lost" artifacts, but 'ehgads' to the cliffhanger at the end; bummer!... Thanks so much for the review!

As a francophone and someone who lived in France this book immediately grabs my attention! (I am so jealous that you got to review it!) I adore historical fiction and it sounds like the time jumps beautifully paint the scenescapes. I just purchased this book so kudos to you for the engaging review!

Thank you for this review, it is very insightful. I myself am now interested. I love historical fiction and would be interested in checking out this series. What can I say, I'm a sucker for period dramas.

I absolutely love when books are able to, expertly, take you to different places and times. It sounds like this author has easily captured the atmosphere of France in the 1800's and was able to make the reader feel not only that they are there, but also a part of the excitement, secret societies, and characters' entourage.

Wow, this does sound amazing. I was thinking of thing like "tomb raider" or national treasure while i was reading the review. I like the thrill of the hunt, whether forced upon the character or not. Usually when You have characters looking for valuables or in search of people, there is almost always near death or capture experiences along the way. this makes it more interesting. i like when the author does research on the area they are portraying in the writing so it adds a more personal touch which allows the reader to relate a little better, and it sounds like this book has that. The review itself was written in such an enthusiastic way, I am definitely interested in checking this one out for myself.

I don't usually read historical fiction, however this one seems quite intriguing, and I might actually look into reading it. Though I am uncertain about the time leaps, (since I often find them a bit jarring) your review makes it seem like Dennis does this quite well. Even though this genre is not something I typically read, I really like your review and am definitely interested in the story.

Are there any books that are similar in theme and genre? I find the concept of jumping back and forth in time can be confusing. Hopefully this writer does it well? Not in the terms of making you feel like you are there, but that it doesn't take away from the narrative. Overall a good review.

Great book. Definitly one of the best historic series ever. The book takes has back into time between 1832 abd mid-to late 1700s, describing a story of an American who had to choose between being blackmailed over losing her life. Every aspect of this story is thrilling, every new character captivates reader by spiling their secrets little by little hence making the reader feels has if they are their closest confidants.
