Thanks for your review! I don't think I will be reading this book since it is made up of speculations about Barbra's life and feelings. However, I appreciate the reviewer's enthusiasm about the book. My mother is a big fan of Barbra so I'm sure that she would enjoy this book.

I have always been a fan of Barbra Streisand’s voice and acting ability. This review was very well written, and gives plenty of insight on what the reader can possibly gain from reading this memoir. I never knew that I had similar qualities to the Star, until now, after reading the review. I am also a believer of a person being true to themselves. I use to do a lot of things people wanted of me just to feel included. And no matter how much I gave of myself it was never going to be enough. After years of reflection I decided it was time to be true to who I am , without apology. I am no longer trying to fit in, because the people that are meant to be in my life will accept the person I truly am. She was right no one deserves the power to make you feel less than you are. It does not matter what people think of you, or names they call you. What value do you give yourself? How you view yourself and speak about yourself, is all that matters. The review stated that this book gives a better look at the scars she has, behind the glamour, and I think that’s good. But if any was truly listening to her in a song, or the way she portrayed a character, you could feel the inner struggle and pain. I am very interested in reading this book for myself. It will be nice to see that someone can relate to what I have felt and learned in life myself.

A review that certainly makes one want to read the book although I do wonder how much is fiction and how much is fact. You obviously are a fan but I enjoyed your review I any event. Not sure whether I will read the book, although you make it sound very enjoyable!

I enjoyed reading your review, very nice. I am really not interested in reading this book. I am sure many people would like it and its probably a good read, just not interested in reading a fiction book about Barbara Streisand. Thank you for your review.

Heroes are human, they go through hurt and pain, they fail , they make mistakes, they cry. They are us, after all, reminding us that at any moment with the right circumstances and opportunities we could be them. It is our human nature to serach and identify with greatness. But lets remember they are human. A revealing, detailed, insightful book review this is . Can't wait to get my hands on this book

It's interesting how the author imagined what Barbra Streisand might have said during psychoanalysis and came up with this fictional account. It's great that this led to so many inspiring messages in this book such as those about living to grow and not falling into the victim role.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

It’s odd to find a fictional book about a famous person who is still alive. I wonder if the book had to be labeled fiction as the author had no true access to Ms. Streisand’s life. I can tell you have a lot of positive opinions on this book, and I’m glad it helped you. However, I also found your review disjointed and hard to read, which makes me wonder if the book is truly worth what you’ve claimed.

I like the fact that the book portrays what is hidden behind the obvious, it is a popular notion that every member of the human race goes through his/her challenge, and getting to know what is the lot of those we think of as special will give us an elaborate reorientation about these folks.

I appreciate this writing and I say a big well done to Alma Bond, I am looking forward to the psychoanalysis too...

Thanks for this very deep review...

I like true memoirs so I’m not so sure how I’d feel about the fictional account. Right off the top, the idea of being “color blind to race” is considered outdated and negative today, as people’s backgrounds and cultures should be accepted and embraced. But I guess the right idea was there in spirit. Thanks for your review

Wow! You really seem to love this book. I am interested in reading it to see if I, too, can relate so well to Barbra. I always think of celebrities as regular people with regular problems, but they have been lucky enough to find fame. It does not really surprise me that she had hurdles in her life to overcome. Thank you for the thorough review.

Wow! What a glowing review! While I’ve never been a huge fan of Ms. Streisand, I always love a book that offers self-reflection and a bigger message about life. It sounds like this book offers just that! Thanks for the review :)

Not for me. If it were real - her actual psychiatric sessions - I'd feel like a peeping Tom; as a fictional account, it's even less interesting. I only read the sample on Amazon, and might have been interested in what the reviewer enjoyed, Streisand's philosophies - but what I got was an unlikely discussion of her father's life, bookended by the fact that she missed him. That bit is rather pathetic, actually, if true - if her father, who died before she was old enough to really remember him, was the only person who treated her with love...pitiable. I wouldn't be very interested in a straight memoir of Streisand, and this framing annoys me - so, not for me.

The reviewer totally missed the mark of compiling a book review. Instead she took the opportunity to address events in her own life that she believes compelling and relative. She also misses the note that this is not a biography, but a fictional (and totally hypothetical) conversation that the author held no place other than in his mind. Before commenting on the editorial sufficiency of the author's text the reviewer should have applied more diligence to her own typing and removed those clerical errors first (e.g., literary versus literally). Might be a book worth reading (based upon the sample from Amazon) but the reviewer made no meaningful contributions to that end.
