An interesting inside look into the life and mind of Ms. Streisand. From a sampling, I found the book to be as if the reader were looking over the author's shoulder as she experienced her rise to stardom. Well done.

Barbra Streisand's life sounds interesting, I've never known she had a tough life. Congrats on being BOTD!

Love the book! :D It's a great experience to have a peek into the mind of a legend. She's human after all, with flaws like everybody else. It's entertaining to read, I might buy this one :D

Fictional. Life or stage. From what I hear she's pretty good. Those bumps in life that sometimes shake you up a bit. Then there's always tomorrow.

Sometimes better sometimes worse. The review seems so italically
energetic. Thanks for the review.

I’m a bit surprised by the overwhelmingly positive review. Having read the sample I feel that the Barbra depicted by the author is more of a Fanny Brice caricature than a true picture of the star. I suppose since I don’t know Ms. Streisand personally I cannot comment on its accuracy but the portrayal feels expected and fabricated to me.

I've sung many of Barbra's songs. Her voice is unique, and her songs are heartwarming. It's quite interesting to get to know her as a woman and not as a star. Although being a woman is always part of her, yet most of us see her as the singer and actress. It's good to know this fictional account can give her fans some insights about her. Thanks for the review!

I was very excited to have a chance to review this book because I’ve been a fan of Barbra Streisand since I was young. I’ve seen all but a few of her movies and have listened to her music for many years. I couldn’t wait for the book to arrive and was thrilled when it did. I was even more thrilled when I saw that it was signed.

The book is very good. I learned things about Barbra that I didn’t know. Things about her childhood, her school days, her start in show business, her relationships with men.

The author dedicates this book to her, saying that she’s “The funniest person I’ve ever known.” And it’s true, many times throughout the book she made me laugh.

This book is very interesting. The thing that surprised me the most though is that she spent thirty years in analysis and no one could give her the help she was looking for and needed until she went to the author.

I am happy that you enjoyed the book, but I wonder how much of it is true since it's based on a fictional account of a superstar's life. Nevertheless, I think readers would gain some insight from the book due to its motivational nature. Thank you for the review and congratulations on #BOTD.

seems like this fictionalised memoir touches on a lot of important issues. I'm not a massive fan of memoirs, however, so I'll give this a pass.

I love the idea of a book that gives us the opportunity of knowing a side of a superstar we ignore. To see how they suffer like we do in life. Is a must to read.

The lesson here is that no matter how other people view you, you are only as beautiful as you see yourself.
This is a difficult lesson to learn, especially for those who have experienced abuse. I’ve never made the mistake of thinking the life of a superstar is easy, but it’s nice to see someone so influential sharing her story, completely truthful or not, and giving others hope in the process.

:tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat: Barbra Streisand : On The Couch. Brilliantly reviewed. While life might not seem easy, especially for those who had an abusive childhood, this book teaches us that there is no mountain that cannot be subdued. It is an epistle for living and truly, reading a book gives us private tours into minds we could never have met in person. I did learn so much, like being original, since we are as beautiful as we see ourselves. Never had it better, this book is set to mend the broken hearted and give hope to those who see life as a pain too difficult to bear.

Fascinating review and I love the honesty and selflessness of it all. People assume the stars have it easy but actually have no privacy making their lives hell and before that they were normal people with pasts and scars too. I would love to read this,it sounds inspiring with all the wisdom it seems to entail.

What a touching book. I read only the first few pages and I felt pain for Barbra, a women I barely knew before today. Thanks for the informative review. I'm glad you really enjoyed reading - I bet if ever I choose to read, I'll enjoy it probably as much as you did!

Barbra's ideology of being color blind to race truly provides food for thought. And who could have guessed she had such a difficult childhood and, yet, look how beloved she became! This book truly deserves to be read.
