This is an interesting book with a unique approach to biography. The book is filled to the brim with interesting facts and anecdotes about Streisand’s personal life and successful career. The premise that sets the biography apart is that it is written as a series of sessions between Streisand and a fictional psychoanalyst.

This books is captivating to say the least. The plot is cohesive and suspense-filled. One wants to skip the introductory chapter and find out what happened later.

When I think of Barbra Streisand, I think of the perfect star who moved the world with her talent. It would never occur to me that she had a rough childhood. From this revelation, I learn that resilience does pay off.

Great review of what sounds like a great book. It sounds like a powerful book. But I think I need a strong and willing mind to read this book. Thanks again for a beautifully written review.

Good book by Barbar Streisand and a great review based on the narration. The ldeology of forgiveness sounds great and as a result, I recommend it to a bosom friend who find it hard to forgive.

I grew-up to be an ardent fan of Barbra Streisand, reading her biography through Alma H. Bond's On the Couch is quiet amazing, I never knew about her childhood and personal life until I came across this mind blowing book. I therefore recommend it to my fellow fans and would-to-be super stars.

Alma H. Bond's book, "Barbara Streisand: On the Couch," draws you to into the interiors of the megastar's personal history: from the haunting loss of her father at a young age, her growing up years as an intelligent but socially awkward "mieskeit," her mother's emotional distance and her drive towards creative success in movies and Broadway, against all odds. Bond's book about the psychoanalytic sessions Ms. Streisand had with 92-year-old Dr. Darcy Dale is fast-paced because many parts are written in the voice of the Diva, who is a skillful storyteller herself. Her recollections are alive with details but are also the epitome of brevity and focus. The reader virtually hurtles through the chapters of Ms. Streisand's life and has hardly anytime to pause. Strangely, the emotional weight of Ms. Streisand's highs and lows seep through the reader and is not lost in the parade of memories. Fans of one of the greatest stars of Hollywood and Broadway will surely lap this up -- a well-written and smartly paced memoir about the Diva's baggage without the baggage of literary artifice.

kandscreeley wrote: 11 Jul 2018, 09:08 Well it does sound like an interesting look at Ms. Streisand's life. Being it's a fictional account I do wonder how much is actually true. Still, it sounds like there are some good topics here. Thanks for the review.
I read it with a teachable spirit and I carried away the practical lessons that I still use in my day to day life. Every time I read a book that's the path I take. To learn in order to grow. Thanks for your response.
