Re: The Quote Game

I believe that was Clint Eastwood.

Ok try this one - "I didn't know how babies were made till I was pregnant with my fourth child"

Hey there Tessie, thanks for joining in and showing some interest. :) You are correct it was good ol Clint.
After looking around I think the person who made your quote was Loretta Lyn.
How about this one

"HOW DO YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT EVERYTHING?" WAS ASKED OF A VERY WISE AND INTELLIGENT MAN ; AND THE ANSWER WAS "BY NEVER BEING AFRAID OR ASHAMED TO ASK QUESTIONS AS TO ANYTHING OF WHICH I WAS IGNORANT".

Hahaha Maud. I do try hard to find out who made the quote before I go to the magical google button. I bet you a glass of guinness that you can't find who made my quote without the google option.

I found it finnally. I did use google, but I still had to sift through about 10 pages of quotes to find it. It was John Abbot.

Ok how about this one,

"Watching a baby being born is a little like watching a wet St. Bernard coming in through the cat door."

Howdy there Tessie. I think the author of your quote after googling is Jeff Foxworthy.

@ Gannon
I do believe it was Muhammad Ali

Now this one should be so easy for you:

We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.

Howdy there Fran, I know this one, haha, you can hit me with Roman quotes all day, they are the only ones that I am confident with. I actually thought it was Caesar, but when I went to check to make sure, it was Cicero. Should have known it would be Rome's greatest orator.

How about

AN UNJUST PEACE IS BETTER THAN A JUST WAR.

Seeing as how yourself, Maud and Tessie are the only ones who take an interest in this post, it will be interesting to see who gets it first. :)

I think that is your mate Mr Cicero again ... he certainly had a lot to say!

I was doing a bit of a tidy up & came across a little book 'Who Said That' in the back of a press .... so I have ammo for this thread until about Xmas. I also found Arthur C Clarke ... amazing what housework can do for your reading.

Anyway here we go:

'Never in the history of human credit has so much been owed' .... very appropriate here in Europe at the moment.

Finally found who said your quote Fran, it was the old Iron Lady herself Margaret Thatcher.

How about...

I like that one Gannon .... it was Douglas Adams

Now try:

'Some for renown, on scraps of learning dote,
And think they grow immortal as they quote'
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.

I really like that quote Fran. Now as to who made it, it would be errrrrrrrrrrrr.....still looking. :)

Ha, found it on a google search. It was the english poet Edward Young who made that quote.

How about...

WHEREAS STORY IS PROCESSED IN THE MIND IN A STRAIGHTFORWARD MANNER, POETRY BYPASSES RATIONAL THOUGHT AND GOES STRAIGHT TO THE LIMBIC SYSTEM AND LIGHTS IT UP LIKE A BRUSHFIRE. IT'S THE CRACK COCAINE OF THE LITERARY WORLD.

Totally love it, Gannon, but wouldn't have the foggiest idea who said it.....<wink>

Nah, I'm just messing with you - none other than the famous JASPER FFORDE.
