AnnaKathleen wrote: 10 Aug 2018, 10:54 This sounds like an interesting read! Thank you for the thorough review. I sampled a bit of the book and it flows nicely and is relaxing to read. I was reminded at times of my Buddhism class and some of the topics our professor would talk about while we practiced mindfulness and meditation. I think anyone looking for a new perspective could enjoy this.
Yes, the present moment awareness piece reminded me of Buddhism as well. Lots of different spiritual belief systems are represented in this book. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I also can't foresee myself ever being grateful for the difficulties in my life!... Thanks for the thorough review, though.
I think the author's perspective is about accepting what is, even the stuff we don't like, as a way of bringing gratitude into our awareness. It was a challenging concept for sure. I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

Thanks for the review! "Living in the Space of Light" sounds like an interesting read! Although some of the concepts might feel extreme, I believe that Caarna's career is quite noble.

Like you stated, readers of this book need to have open minds, which will help readers realize that the author discovered happiness; and she is devoted to sharing her formula with the world to help others experience a sense of purpose and fulfillment in their lives. By doing so, Carrna probably hopes to also improve one's health, which can be very dependent upon one's happiness.

I agree with several of the teachings on this book, like the importance of gratitude and community, and I´m interested in the spiritual part. However, it´s the self-help part that isn´t my cup of tea.
I´ll keep this book in a maybe status.
You might enjoy the book. I would say there is more inspiration than self-help, but it could be perceived that way. Thank you for your thoughts!

"One of twelve Universal laws, this one proclaims that nothing happens by accident – that we invite every person, experience, and circumstance to our lives, even the terrible ones."

This is an interesting idea for the author to take when writing this book. Is she suggesting that major issues one could experience like being murdered are also something we bring about, or is she only talking about minor issues like small arguments with friends?

Dusamae wrote: 10 Aug 2018, 11:20 Thank you for your review. When I was younger I might have liked the idea of this book, but as I have gotten older and my brain still wants to do things my body just can't endure then I would say this book is not for me. My ability to heal myself has left me.
I have felt that way as well, as aging has crept in. I still try to head in the direction of acceptance of my aging body and mind. It isn't easy though, is it! May our aging selves guide us! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments.

Wow! Your review is thoughtful, comprehensive and complex. You gave so much good information. I would like to read about Caarna's spiritual experiences and take on life but appreciate your objective perspective on her beliefs. Specifically, whether or not she can influence the weather! (Sorry, a very small joke.) Keep writing great reviews!
:D I appreciate your open-mindedness and your sense of humor! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments.

The book sounds like a fascinating read. Eckhart Tolle's teaching fascinated me. While I agree with the power of attraction to some degree there still aspects that I don't agree with. New age religion is a line that must be crossed carefully because it's easy to find yourself in a cult.
Overall great review, and it is a book that will definitely get you thinking.

This is a motivational non-fiction book that highlights spiritual awakening and the journey toward it. The plot was captivating and i enjoyed the detailed onlinebookclub review. The book can be found for free on Kindle Unlimited. Congrats on being the BOTD.

For me, any kind of non-fiction are unappealing for some reason. A woman's journey of finding happiness and prosperity through religious context doesn't seem like a book for me. Thank you for your review. Carnaa's story might be inspirational to some. Hope it finds them.

hsimone wrote: 10 Aug 2018, 11:36 One woman's journey to spiritual awakening sounds inspirational to those who would like to embark on their own spiritual awakening. I find the five aspects "community, gratitude, optimism, present moment awareness, and a sense of purpose" as the foundation of happiness interesting. In many ways, I agree with being grateful with both the positives and the difficulties in life, but I can this being challenging for someone who has lived a more difficult like than me. It's great to hear that the book has exercises to work with fear and anxiety - I'm sure many can relate to that. Too bad about the inconsistency when it came to spirituality. I also find it difficult to wrap my mind around how nature "obeys" people and that we have the same power of Jesus. Overall, not sure if my mind is open enough for this text, however, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the thorough review!
I really appreciate your thoughtful comments. I think you are absolutely right that having gratitude for all experiences and circumstances is more challenging for those with really difficult lives. I am continually amazed by what some people endure. Finding a way to acceptance is not easy. I appreciate you stopping by.
