Two Sheldon Lowa Summers by Donald De Vries teaches about the conditions of mental illness and the rehabilitation. It's does not seem interesting because of the grammatical tenses used.

Between the focus on tragedy, death, and addiction combined with the numerous errors, I can say this one is not for me. In general, I don't care for the small town, character-driven type stories anyway. There just isn't much to pull me into this one.

Thanks for the review. Drug and alcohol addiction is very common in our society. It is commendable that the author picked this issue to write a novel on. It certainly will give insight to people about how to seek help in case they are an addict. This book can be really relatable to people, as the reviewer said. I really liked the book based on what I read here. It is worth giving a chance.

Great review! This book actually looks up my alley, especially if there really is a more enlightened depiction of mental illness.

This fictional account of a small town life sounds interesting. The most interesting aspect is the discussion of mental illness and alcohol and drug addiction. These are things that need to be discussed so we can better help
our own loved ones. Congrats on book of the day! Great review!

I was captivated by this most talented author...his writing is truly a blessing . I feel like I really know Iowa and what it was like growing up in a farming community. Now that I've read this wonderful memoir I am ready for a trip to Iowa! I have never been there and now it is on my short term list of travel goals. I recently read author Jane Smiley's Pulitzer prize winning novel A Thousand Acres which initially got me interested in reading about Iowa and rural America.

I'm interested. I'm usually pretty intolerant of grammatical issues, but I like stories that talk about life in small towns. I also like that the author is injecting some semi-autobiographical elements. A story is more powerful when it is personal. I look forward to reading it, especially since it's free right now on Amazon.

Great review! It would be interesting to see how the characters with mental illness and addiction face their everyday lives. I dig for character development in books so I would also be watching out for that. I hope to enjoy this “Novella-yzed-AutoBio and Story.”

Watching characters mature over time is what I like about this book. We don't all stay the same, and neither should characters. Great review!

Considering the book offers how addicts, people with mental illness can seek help, it is a worthwhile book. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for the insightful review. This book sounds heavy but especially worthwhile for readers who enjoy character development and who could benefit from reading about addiction, its effects on families, and how to seek help.

Reading the Amazon blurb of this book left me pretty confused, but the few pages I've read and your wonderful review realy changed everything in this case. I liked the author's writing style. Too bad he didn't start writing earlier. I'm definitely interested in following Les through the two life-changing summers of his youth. Thanks!

I can really tell how much you enjoyed this book just from the review and even though I haven't read it, I get the feeling that these characters and their developments are authentic and relatable. I'm willing to bet this is because the author speaks from a place very close to home and very similar to his experiences. In my opinion that's the best way to write a book.

It's a really well written review that avoids spoilers and makes me want to read the book even more. Good job!

Based on the review, this sounds like a really good coming of age story. Finding out how the characters deal with mental illness, drugs and alcohol seems like a powerful read. I will add this one to my to read shelf.

I do not have any interest in reading and reviewing this novel because dreams and visions are sometimes misleading to me.
